I've gone through the first seven stages within just two months of hearing about it. I'm sure i will cycle through most of them again, but at the moment I am focusing on simplicity and just practicing the basics so that i will be ready for a fresh journal when the new year comes.

Re: My Secret Weapon for Extra Energy at Work

Ok, so i totally agree that i need a nap! I'm an early-rising father of 9 young children and husband to a "night owl". And while i've been able to get by on 6 hours or less of sleep on a regular basis, i think it is catching up to me! Now, the biggest hurdle i have is napping is looked down upon - lazy/unproductive, or at least i perceive it that way very strongly to the point that i even have a hard time resting during "my time" such as my lunch break. My time has been very hard to define as a salary employee. So what do i do to solve this dilemma?

Re: How to Record a Video Interview in Eight Steps

Hi, hopefully I'm not the odd man out, but I was wondering if anybody had any software recommendations for recording skype video on a PC

Re: Should You Hire Someone to Proofread Your Blog Posts?

I'm astonished that someone would comment like that! I agree that content is the main focus here, and that being a blog we can give it some leeway. It takes about 5 seconds and $0 to correct a mistake once it is discovered, unlike a book that is published in thousands of permanent units. And as long as it wasn't a major statistical error that caused half of San Francisco to mistakenly move to the East Coast, I think it can be forgiven.
I think crowd-sourcing is a great idea when you have a few trusted readers that will help catch boo-boos. Obviously we still take pride in our work, but at some point even those with the sharpest eye for detail and superb grammar skills are going to let something slip by.

Re: Kombucha Tea (with YouTube Video)

We just got a kombucha starter and are excited to be making our own. I was convinced it was time to stop, and my wife wanted more children. It caused us both great anguish not being in unity. It took probably a year for my feelings to change, but I committed to not making an permanent decisions unless we were both convinced we needed to stop having children. Well that never happened, and we're thankful. We are now unified in the desire to let God be in control. We know it will come with its share of challenges, but it joy will reign. Thanks for this post. We are thankful we can turn here for encouragement!

Re: Our Early Convictions

I was just recently turned on to your blog by my wife. Reading this, I thought I was reading a transcript of our life. We literally had the exact conversation a night before we found this post. It is reassuring that we are not alone. We have six children, I am in school as well as working full-time, and we have someone (a mother-in-law to be specific) who has gone from the "You're done, right" to "You need a break." Progress, right? A break does sound good, but in so many other ways the attempt at controlling our fertility is taking the joy out of much of life and replacing it with stress. We're praying that God would overcome our fears and worries with his peace that passes all understanding.
Thanks for writing with openness and honesty.

Re: plateful

that's an awesome plate! we had a lot of the same stuff. of course, minus the kimchi. my mom-in-law went martha stewart style, and did a great job. the only regret that we had, was since we didn't make our own meal, we took home limited leftovers. and we didn't get any stuffing! so, that's what i would choose for my non-dessert leftover. your apple-sausage stuffing sounds yummy!

Re: Shave Ten Hours

very helpful stuff! i've heard it before, but needed the reminder

Re: Ragamuffin Soul » Close The Gap - My One Year Anniversary at Buckhead Church

you said it exactly how i explained it to my wife the other day. But for a world that embraces relativism, strong statements are needed.
Why are we questioning clear teaching from the Bible? We should be obedient to the commands of God and instructions of the Bible to the best of our ability. There are always "extenuating circumstances" for everything, and he did address them here. If you are injured or deathly ill, obviously you can't work. It's a fallen world and sin and its affects are inescapable. (ex. "be fruitful and multiply" but what about those who cannot conceive? obviously they are not condemned for not multiplying.)

I would ask *why* is the man working at home and the wife going to work? Is it a matter of income and lifestyle? a matter of greed and selfishness? a matter of personality? I think that is how most of those decisions are made and that is where the decision gets sinful. "She can earn more and we can get the big screen tv or anything else our hearts desire."

In the end, each man as the head of the household will be accountable for his decisions. Each couple will be accountable for their decisions, and not judged on a scale.
The principle has been laid by the Bible. We are to obey to the best of our ability. We are to use wisdom when there is a circumstance beyond our control that means a man cannot work. And we are not to be bound by "the law" but by grace.

P.S. he doesn't say he doesn't like stay-at-home dads. If anything, he says he loves them. And he wants the best for them, and that is why he is teaching so clearly and strongly. You can see that in all his other messages as well - this just happened to be a "controversial" issue.

Re: Scott Magdalein - I’ve wanted a motorcycle for a while.
