The entire premise of your article is hinged on what I consider a bad assumption:

The modern general purpose computer is the internet. My phone, my iPad, my PC and my consoles are simply portals to my Facebook, Google Docs, Dropbox, Flickr.

The separation in usage exists purely as an interface problem now. I can't edit Google Docs on my consoles because you can't reasonably type with a controller. I can't upload photos to Flickr from my SLR with my phone because there's no SD slot. I can't play blockbuster action games on my iPad because the touch screen sucks for input.

And having specialised hardware for these things is not a problem for me. Mobile gaming on my phone is fun. I'm happy to sit down at my PC and edit and upload photos. I enjoy sitting down with a controller in front of my TV to play games.

Pro tip: if you are using gmail (and probably other email services) then deleted emails are kept for a month. You can go into your trash and instruct gmail to delete them forever.

After the first time of doing that, most developers on AAA titles realise that it's counter productive and start figuring out a better work-life balance. Your employer will appreciate it too, as you'll be more productive and happy!

This is far and away the best galette dough recipe I have ever used. It isn't that different from most of the others - I have used Clara Music's one in the past - but it emphasises patience and precision, and is all the better for it. It makes a perfect, layered and crumbly crust which holds the juices of a galette really well. 10/10!

This banana bread is just insanely good. I wasn’t able to use fancy bananas, but even with grocery store bananas it is delicious. The texture is perfect, and even a couple of days later it is still moist.

I trusted the recipe and used 50% whole wheat flour and I’m glad it did.

I’ll make a couple of changes when I make another later this week. (What else am I going to do with all this buttermilk?)

I used just over 325g of banana flesh and it didn’t quite feel like enough. I’ll probably amp it up to 375g or so. I may also try to get some good bananas from the SM farmers market this Weds.

I didn’t fully read the pre-game instructions, so I only put a single tablespoon of sugar on the top. I do have a blowtorch, so I’ll put three on and caramelise it.

But honestly, it’s flawless. I commend you on excellent and patient instructions which make me engage in what I’m making and understand the process more.

Great post Adrian. Reminded me that chicagocrime was a huge influence on a transit site I built years ago: http://livebus.org. These scraping/updating stories resonate loudly, painful yet nostalgic. The thrill of watching a working parser finally chomping happily through mountains of pathological data is like few others. I stopped running the import scripts long ago, but now I'm tempted to see if they still work.

Aside: We met briefly when you visited poetica the other day, would have been good to hang out more. All the best.

I have iphone with 4.3.3 untethered with Tiny Umbrella 5.0.1 saved SHSH blobs... IF 5.1 is released by Apple before this jailbreak is out, can i still upgrade to 5.0.1 using my blobs? (the reason i ask is ive seen people say "UPGRADE NOW BEFORE 5.1 IS OUT!")

The name is misleading.. If you do it with an email, thats the one thing it DOESN'T do is mark it as read. Should be called ClearBadge7 or something
