The stat you were debunking regarding market share was the current market share for usage amongst the browsers. You then stated that safari had the fastest growth an entirely different metric and one that favors smaller starting numbers in the way that it is easy to grow your consumer market by 100% if you only have 1 current customer whereas the company with 10000 customers would have a very hard time achieving the same % increase even as they acquire customers at a far greater rate.

As a definite, which all the services which measure these stats agree is that
1 chrome has the largest market share
2 then internet explorer
3 then firefox third
4 and finally safari is fourth and only around 16%

Chrome is also the most likely to be the "actual preference" because it does not come pre-installed on most windows machines and definitely not pre-installed on any macs. People have to go out and specifically download chrome to switch browsers.

Hey my dad just joined and he is one of those guys who knows zero.zerozero But now since he uses gmail and there are ubiquitous notifications(not to mention the emails that he will not turn off) I think he will come back until it feels normal.

Or maybe google would like these manufacturers to release the phones without nerfing awesome software features on the phone, baking there own awesome unremovable apps into the firmware and then delaying version updates to infinity and beyond, but they can not even attempt to add these as conditions in the licensing agreements because it would hardly be open if you prevent people from changing the code.
Then their solution might be to work closely with alternating manufacturers on new releases and observing while hoping they do not to sabotage the software in shortsighted consumer and platform unfriendly practices time and again. If so google will probably not move on when a manufacturer competes by producing the best product.

Give any name
Add the following text as url: https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp...

Set engine as default.

Some location features may be broken and language as you can see is determined by code. You are english so this is cool..

I wonder if apple can aggressively push another hardware product at the moment if it wanted to.

Many apple fans like the idea of the full experience but have felt that skipping apple tv does not count.

If tv is pushed then it may begin to feel like a neverending chase to have the latest apple hardware and if they choose not to then they are missing out on the full experience.

Doubt consumers will feel the same about any of the various new google products.

That would probably work but a simple delete account option is way easier than deleting each photo album, video upload, subscribed feed, likes etc.

I deleted my account, it was not that easy. People would expect account>deactivate account would do it but facebook can still use some of your data after that.

I always rant against facebook because they seem poised to displace google and I would hate the awesome open stance that google has to be usurped by facebook's untested and less clear stance. There is also the possibility that facebook will cause a stale zone where they increase monetization and decrease innovation after becoming everyone homepage. It would not be permanent but I don't want even a few years of stale growth.

You may not be getting comments here but it is a great post and it is being discussed on buzz. Too bad buzz is so badly positioned to take advantage of facebook privacy changes because of the investigation into privacy breach during buzz launch, never mind the fact that any tech person knows google fixed the issues within a day and always makes a point of not abusing user data.
