God, so much of this. I didn't grow up in a small southern town but yeah, it seemed like, in trying to be "respectful but honoring" Reed mythologized so much of this small town and everyone's way of life. Also, as a therapist, John's intimacy issues and mental illness and personality disordered stuff was like a loud fucking siren the minute he started talking and so I could never get past that in a way to play detective. Also, I have no tolerance for the tragic genius bit as most of these tragic geniuses leave a wake of regular people who they've hurt in their wake. John's life was tragic, but it wasn't tragic because he was great at making clocks, and cared about climate change. It was tragic cause he was trapped in many many many many ways

I'm going to see it. It's not gonna match the first one for me cause it just can't but it sounds like it's doing for my friends younger kids what the first one did for me and so I feel like, in that way, it's succeeded in what maybe it should do. As much as I feel like I should be the main audience from this film it really should still be the younger kids in the audience.

I absolutely agree we don't need a hero. We need to stop the top down approach. Find a local politician you feel good about and HELP them. Republican's are in this place because they didn't run heros. They ran conservatives who would speak the party line and then attacked liberals. That's how they have all of these state legislatures and govs and congressional seats. We need to stop waiting for a saviour and build one from the ground up

True, but at this point, creating a stalemate or even a war within Trumps camp, which is already prone to massive infighting, is good. It prevents them from moving forward with an agenda. It also increases the likelihood, if Republican's speak out against him, that he'll turn his power on them.

Christie, when he was an attorney, pursued and successfully prosecuted Jared Kushner's (Ivanka's husband) father. jared hates Christie and has always pushed to have him on the outside. They worked to keep Trump from picking him as VP and my guess is he's working to push him out. The bridgegate stuff will not help Christie either as it's pretty negative.
Kushner is pretty vindictive and interested in power but also seems to be kinda stupid about strategy to so Ivanka basically married her daddy

I agree. Voting for president probably should feel morally compromising. 1. power, even in it's most earnest, morally-executed forms, isn't great. Our system is our system and to say that I think it's better than a lot of others doesn't mean that I think it's great. I mean. I abhor the idea of slave labor and yet I type on an iphone. We make horrible choices all day cause the world and the systems in it are horrible. But you can't ignore the systems, you do what you need to do within them to the extent you can.

Transplants are a big cause in North Carolina as well. Texas is so large the effect may not be as noticeable as first but eventually it will because the blue voters will be the younger educated residents

Arizona also has a not insignificant Mormon population. I don't know if Evan is on the ballot but Mormons have shown a pretty high resistance to the Trump Campaign and could either split ticket or not vote for President.
I was hoping we'd see more signs of life for the Dem Senate Candidate vs McCain but it doesn't look good for her

One thing about North Carolina numbers is that polling places were drastically reduced, especially in blue areas, I think one went down to 1 from over 30. They will add more places as we get closer to the election. Right now Dems are out performing Republicans, but both are under performing 2012. However, Reps are under performing in Absentee ballots which have no restricts so it could be that Dems will catch up to 2012 numbers once more polls are open while the Absentee ballot numbers for Reps could signal an issue.

Ohio has Dems under performing but this is also a state where restricts have come in place, most importantly an entire week of early voting was removed. Iowa shows both parties under performing but Dems by more. Ohio and Iowa are the two Obama states Trump is most likely to win due to high number of uneducated whites, which is his strongest category.

Also I saw an article that made the point is we're going to audience's reactions to Trump. like when he corrected the woman who asked about veteran suicide and he "well, actually..." ed her and she made a face. That's going to happen over and over again. I wouldn't be surprised if he just straight up accuses one of them of being plants because he doesn't like their question.

I think he only cares about the acquisition. The main theme of Trump seems to be winning and gaining some sort cache in high society. My guess is he cares most about winning the negotiations, getting his name on things. Which is why he stopped doing anything but renting out the use of his name years ago.

He just wanted to say he marked the territory of Atlantic City, the Skies with Trump airline etc, one he got it, he cared nothing about running it or whether it was even a good idea. It's his dominance obsession that we see now, where he has to "win" in a way that means nothing for long-term planning
