I know, you know, the prosecutor and your attorney Emmanuel Guerrero knows, that you got off with not a slap on the wrist, but a 'shiatsu massage,' as in 2007 a federal grand jury indicted you on 10 counts of fraud, theft and embezzlement.

You were facing up to "30 years in prison and a $1 million fine for each bank fraud and embezzlement charge and up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for each theft of public funds charge" according to court documents and public records.

So lessee, that would be 300 years, and at least $10 million dollars. And you're worried about landing a future job? What your family get togethers will be like? Imagine what the dead customer you robbed and her family feels? And what about the others in your wake of collateral damage? I hope the casino you are working at knows what you're capable of.

This is a coverup of epic proportions. Is it because it is a utility company that they get a 'free pass' and 'do not go to jail?'

Maybe not Bishop Estate Trustees scandal quality, but definitely something that all Hawaii and Federal financial institution executives and banking customers should be asking for more details. Reporter Rick Daysog, for one, knows exactly what happened, and what has been covered up.

Shame on the feds for letting the 'dirty hands' of Lau and HEI with their criminal actions go free. Lau should be in prison and ASB should have been closed down/taken over to set an example for all financial institutions in Hawaii, and the US. This is why Hawaii is seen as a joke, a tiny locale, with 'big fish in a small pond' corruption.

I avoid anything ASB anymore. I wish I could avoid my HECO bill as well.

Please consider that you ruined the innocent lives of Ada Lim, her family, and whistleblower Corniel, a veteran, who can no longer work in any security related career, and had to move away, because of the whistleblower retaliation actions of Constance Lau and HEI.
And whatever happened to Abel Malczon? Did he get away with murder?

You can literally rob a bank in Hawaii, and not only will you get away with it, but the bank you robbed, ASB, will help you. Hey masked robber, white collar crime is the way to go. We need a wikileaks Hawaii edition, it seems. Or a REAL Hawaii Five-0 to 'Book 'em all!'

Sorry for my long rant, but this is just the icing. There is SO much more secrets.

Shouldn't they turn that off right now, since its false advertising?

Its like when Supercuts was running ads touting the best haircuts.
Or when AT&T was claiming more coverage and less dropped calls over the US when everyone, including themselves knew that was not true.
How come companies always advertise the exact opposite of what they are bad at. Spin?
Where are the regulators in all of this?

Everytime I hear about how the tobacco settlement money is being (mis)used or fought over by all those in government, I feel sad.
I remember when the settlement was first reached, and then there was a smoking settlement conference (party) at Ko Olina to discuss how the money (loot) was going to be used in the future, I asked the Attorney General at the time, Marjorie Bronster, who was a speaker at the conference, if any of these funds would be going to the victims of tobacco, who, the government specifically used, by name, as examples during the tobacco lawsuit trials, and consequently died from cancer, emphysema, etc. as a direct result of smoking.
She said no, and moved on to the next question quickly. Did I ask something bad? I felt like I did.
Don't get me wrong, its not her decision to make, and she did do some good while in office (like pursuing the corrupt bishop estate trustees, which eventually resulted in her ousting) but I think its very wrong that none of the victims or their families get a penny out of all this after the government acted like they were fighting in their behalf to make the tobacco companies pay for their wrongdoing.
To me, this is all blood money that we are all giddy about how to spend. Victims RIP.

Thank you for sharing that story.

Being a former Apple vendor, and being in both Japan and the U.S. I would have to say that this is more about the management and training of staff, than corporate.

So although we would like to give credit to Apple, Inc., it is more about the culture of Japan.

This would happen even in a konbini (Lawson, 7-11, etc.) in Japan, at minimum wage, because of the standards and training of workers.

This would less than likely happen in a U.S. Apple store, or any U.S. store, generally speaking, from my experience.

This is because U.S. worker training and management during work hours is slim to none, sadly.
