Here's Why

Kimberly,
This was absolutely beautiful, and I thank you for saying it—for sharing this. WE are in control of our own image, and if we don't stand up and let ALL of our stories be counted, the stereotyping will continue. Thanks for striking a blow against the stereotypes, and for telling our men that they matter. You're such a blessing!

Re: What I Love: 20 Feet Tall

I LOVE THIS! Thank you for your perspective on the song... it really is beautiful (the song and your interpretation). I thought of the song a little differently; the way I interpreted it, the song is about a woman, fresh out of a relationship she really wanted but that didn't work out, who is getting over the hurt by recognizing that she doesn't have to beg and plead for her ex to want her back... she can get up off her knees, recognize that she's actually the same height as the wall her ex built, and she can hold her head up and see over it and find strength in herself to move on and find herself again. Self-esteem and empowerment—that's what I got from it. Isn't it amazing how we can all listen to the same songs and walk away feeling completely different about the meaning? That's the beauty and brilliance of art.

Re: Real Talk Wednesday: Where’s my GPS? THANK YOU for the call to action. There are plenty more brothers out there just like you, but far too many more who are content to make excuses while we women pick up all the slack. It's time for ALL OF US to get to work.

Re: Coconut Curry Tilapia w/ Lemongrass

Good grief, that looks and sounds absolutely delicious...
