There are a few serious issues with Cryptonote. I think, addresses not being public is not a good thing and is too Opaque. Cryptonote also will have huge blockchain size. Anoncoin takes best of both worlds. Has public ledger and supports i2p to prevent ip address leak. And the devs are working on to implement zerocoin differently where transactions can be made completely trustless way.
