Maybe coming up with positive solutions and suggestions to a modern problem might be interesting news or at least an interesting debate. The problem is there is a huge demand and a huge culture of drugs in todays society...its supply and demand...from the lower class selling...to the middle class businessmen who sniff coke at night clubs...and that's a world wide problem.

The bigger questions, is who is stopping the tons of drugs coming ashore onto our Island, for example, what's been done by our policians and the guards? Not enough for sure. Look at the border of mexico and USA...now that is a major problem...drugs are the single biggest issue the world has over.

But it is funny the Irish media wallow and focus on negativity. We focus way too much on crime in this country, when other positive attributes are also in abundance.

In the end it's just very lazy and the worst journalism.

...and nothing new to say.

Re: Crowley versus Higgins

I think it's doing fine.

Maybe just because you don't like politics and discussion that's going on here in Limerick now ...all to try improve our country maybe shows your ignorance.

Re: Frank McCourt dies aged 78

19th was a sad day for Ireland.

One of the greatest ever Irish authors has passed away.

He will be remembered forever through his books which are timeless masterpieces...R.I.P Frank.

Re: The Late Late Show: Gerard Hannan versus Frank McCourt

What a bunch of whingers.

Angela's Ashes was a subjective memoir, its' seen from HIS eyes ...like it or loath it...

There is no denying it's simply one of the greatest Irish books ever written, a wonderful piece of majestic writing.

We all should be proud of it.

Re: Frank McCourt may have “weeks to live” - report

Very sad news. Fantastic to see.

But it's really the courts, judges, guards, politicians, teachers etc of this country that need to implement solutions. Stiff *stiff* sentencing, better laws etc to make life as --difficult--- as possible for them. As they saying goes, a thief will be a thief as long as they think they can get away with it. Same with drug dealers and their poisonous ilk.

But remember drugs is not just a Limerick problem, it's an Irish problem -- indeed a world wide problem. No easy fixes. Take a look at the murderous blood on the mexican borders for example on a daily rate - it's scary, but we've got to stand up to them and make an example.

Good work so far, ...now follow through!

Re: Beiljob!

That's balanced journalism, right there, LOL :-)

Now sarcasam off.

Sure Limerick and indeed the whole Island of Ireland has been hit hard by the global recession, but great little cities like Limerick have come out of it before and will be stronger and better from it. Focusing on some black spots doesn't do justice to the brilliant efforts in other places, the social work, the schools, etc. But where is the insight in this "article", where is the statistics and verification and broader picture? Any thought on the ongoing solutions being implemented? Just point and laugh is it? Laziness, summed up by the use of the antiquated so-out dated moniker stab. You wonder what the writer's agenda and what their motivation for essentially a one sided article...

Sure we can all play that game...lets quote the great man Richard Harris:

"Let's put the record straight. Limerick is one of the most progressive cities in Ireland, an industrial powerhouse and home to one of our great universities. Of course, it has known hard times, but it is a city in harmony with itself, a city that has never climbed above its station, yet will reach the pinnacle of its aspirations. It has history, culture and humour and ...rugby"

So where is the history and backround of the city in question, Limerick is full of culture and pride, and like ALL other cities in the world has its black spots, but the city will prevail...its always had and it alwasy will (like in the 50s, 60s, 70s)... so the writer should should get educated or go back to writing comics :-))

Re: Whilst rummaging through YouTube I found …

Cool!!!
