You know full well your questions are disingenuous. A quote from a protester is not a stance that everyone is taking, and no one said no one should be arrested. But I don’t want my tax dollars going for a horde of undercover cops to arrest a teenager for vandalism. Why do you? Do you think it’s cool to waste money like that when thousands are homeless, when people are getting shot, when your elderly neighbors are afraid to go out because the neighborhood cops are being used for bullshit? Unlike you, I’m not demanding you answer my rhetorical questions. You’re not interested in a dialogue. You think you’re right, and you’re sure if we’re forced to answer your questions we’ll agree with you. But we won’t.

My mention of living in the neighborhood refers to my ability to comment on how people bike in this neighborhood and also ponder why they’d order from dominoes as opposed to a real pizza place. Also every damn day some moron on a citibike almost runs me over. The delivery guys don’t.

I came very close up being hit by a delivery van on Wednesday evening. I was crossing with the light; he was turning on to 8th ave and not paying attention. After I yelled at him I realized he has NO incentive not to hit me. Regardless of fault there has to be punishment if you kill someone. The person in the larger vehicle has the responsibility of being more cautious.

I get pushed quite often by dudes. One time I saw a guy push (very hard) an elderly woman to get a seat, so I went and hovered over him and leaned down and whispered to him, "You have no idea who's packing on this train." Surprisingly it worked! He got off at the next stop.

I also saw a teen boy get up to give his seat to a woman, and an adult male RACED over to get the seat, knocking the woman out of the way. The teen started screaming at him, "THIS SEAT IS NOT FOR YOU!" It was glorious.

I work in animal rescue, and some stores mistreat their cats.

My friend rescued a very sick and pregnant bodega cat recently. If she had the kittens at the store, she would have died, and then so would the kittens. She always asks the owners when she sees ill or dirty store cats if they need help or if they want to give the cat up. I'm very glad to hear that the places you go have healthy, well-fed, and friendly cats, but that's not always the case.

It's possible that this man stole the kitten because he though a store was no place for a kitten. But that's not his call. I hope they get their kitten back.

Here's mama. She had to spend a day at the vet getting hydrated, but she and the kittens are doing fine.

There is some misinformation here, I hope. It's possible that SI ACC is radically different from Manhattan and Brooklyn but 1. they're not legally allowed to turn away any animal (which is why the animals are at risk for being euthanized) and 2. They're definitely not euthanizing a majority of the cats.

Best Friends has been working with the ACC for the past two years to reduce the euth rate, and the ACC's own New Hope Program works to contact no-kill shelters and groups to place animals that are at risk. Groups like Best Friends, City Critters, Anjellicle Cats, and probably a lot of Staten Island rescue groups regularly take cats who are on the at-risk list from the ACC.

The ASPCA currently works with the ACC by taking neonatal kittens to their high-tech kitten nursery. the ACC doesn't have such a program.
