He talked about his childhood growing up in Jackson Heights, Queens NY and mentioned his religious background. When he told Mr. Carson he was trained for his Bar Mitzvah by Cantor Yavneh I almost fell off my chair. "Dad, Yavneh? My Cantor?" Dad said, "Yeah, he belonged to our Temple!" I felt like a hockey puck for not knowing that before and that my dad knew him. Pretty cool!

Re: These battery-powered trains are almost as magical as the Hogwarts Express

If the batteries could be removed, replaced and charged outside the train then the 'down time' would be negligible. A charging station at strategic places with extra fresh batteries would make the system seamless.

Re: 14 Propaganda Techniques Fox "News" Uses to Brainwash Americans | Media | AlterNet

Debate all you like but the best argument against a 'fair and balanced' moniker for Fox was given by the fear mongering BS artist himself! Richard Nixon asked his people to come up with some bogus stories and put them 'out there' for people to read and make their own minds up as to their veracity. Many of Nixon's people rejected the idea (ah what a simpler time it was.) But one of his aides, one Roger Ailes, yup that Roger Ailes told Nixon that he thought it was a fantastic idea. He basically said that if you could place enough false stories with a touch of truth in them in the media you could control the minds of the electorate.
And the rest is history!
On the whole Fox News is as fair and balanced as is the state owned news media of North Korea without the show of weapons. But their weapons are more insidious since they are hidden within innuendo and inference and catchy and misleading phrases such as "Death Panels."
The only way to get a truly fair and balanced view of the world is to listen to all sides, including Fox and then do a little research on your own.
If you can do that then you will be able to use your brain to make decisions rather than having it washed for use by Ailes.

Re: Corporate Japan passes on tax cuts to help national recovery

Japanese corporations & businessmen/women are honorable.
American corporations are greedy & unfeeling. They are impersonal and care not a whit about America. If they did they would chip in just a little bit.
I advocate a CORPORATE AMT - An Alternative Minimum Tax for all US corporations whether they are based in America or not.
The Supreme Court has ruled that they are to be treated like citizens and given rights as though they were individuals. So if they wish to continue to do business in this country and reap all the benefits of an individual citizen then they must pay taxes like that average citizen.
The CORP AMT could start small, say 10%. That would mean BILLIONS from just those American concerned individual corporate citizens such as GE & EXXON!
Comments?

Re: Environmentalists question why Justice Thomas has not recused himself from Monsanto case

He's a shit - Pure and simple! No matter how deep or how shallow one digs this person should never have been a Supreme Court judge and should be removed!

Re: http://art-or-porn.tumblr.com/post/424534977

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Whether something is art or porn is for the most part subjective. I believe this photo is art. I understand that others may not agree. But I contend that if someone feels this is porn then the problem is not with the photo but with the beholder.
Some call this type of photo 'soft core' porn. I would ask those people why they consider the human body to be pornographic when viewed without clothing.
Those people consider this type of photograph to be damaging to our society. My feeling is that a closed mind and an uneducated person is far worse and more dangerous.
Unfortunately the photographs that appear at the bottom of this page are far more provocative and can be considered pornographic. Any photograph that includes the private act of making love should be kept private. Even the most liberal among us can spot the difference.

Re: Speed Test – Check System Speed

Would be great if it could speed up the system at the same time.

Re: The Mourning After: Church For Francoeur Still Tragic

Occasionally all a player needs is a change of scenery to make him reach his potential and while I am not admitting to anything after only 2 games I will say that Francoeur has done well in NY so far. But I am easily pleased so I must add that if he continues the rest of the season and helps the team get back to respectability and into the playoffs then I will allow that the trade had merit.

Re: The Mourning After: Church For Francoeur Still Tragic

The bottom line is that if a team offers the Mets a trade they should decline. You cannot consummate a good deal if you are not intelligent enough to see a bad one. Met trades through the years have been for the most part poor with some bordering on downright criminal. I can still remember dumping Nolan Ryan because "he was too wild - he won't last." But we did get a third baseman for a week so I guess it worked out. I also see a pattern - dump anyone with Ryan is his name.
My first reaction to the trade was disbelief and then I thought I heard wrong or was sleeping (Is till have the bruised arm to prove that last point.)
In a season that has brought out the major problem of this team, their management is sub Little League we can also see the lack of depth at every position. Trading away Castro and now Church shows a lack of understanding on the part of the front office that should make every Yankee fan happy for years to come.
