I think your post is right on and points to the issues we have with institutional survival: are we as the Church so interested in preserving our ecclesiastical and national institutions that we will also -- actively or silently -- support the institutionalized violence in our names?

Thanks, Bryan. I heartily believe that progressives in UM are coming into a new season of witness and testimony rooted in our experiences of faith, not just political organizing... Mark Miller's witness and yours (throughout your GC blogging) are powerful reminders of what the Holy Spirit can do for the transformation of our church.
