Don't want to get political, but gov't is not benevolent and this is not "transparency." Quite the opposite. Gov't doesn't want you to see how much they are taking from you. Whether buying a car, house, or gallon paint at Lowe's, I'm okay with seeing how much the retailer is charging and then how much of my money the gov't wants too.

Rather new driver. What am I missing here? I can't yet see my trips. I need 200 points and 85 AR to see trip duration and direction. If y'all ignore AR and accept only the 'best trips' how can you see the trip if you don't maintain 85 AR?

For the record, railings are not chest high as this article states. For many adults above average height, the railings are only waist high, as they appear to be to the couple in the photo just above.

Nice article and observation on the balance of the value proposition. We agree wholeheartedly! We love this class for these reasons. Our first cruise was on Adventure and that remains the best ever! We're booked on Mariner in October and can't wait!

Why is an article by a CEO of a small private company in GovExec? His observations/recommendations have no applicability to federal hiring processes. As CEO, he's free to say whatever the heck is on his mind and criticize candidates with glee if he so desires. In federal service, the process of structured interviews conducted by interview panels does not allow for a subjective evaluation of "emotional maturity" or for providing "real-time feedback". The interview is just one factor that will be considered in determining the most suitable candidate for hire.

Same way feds can be "barred" from doing any number of things, such as taking a GOV home or campaigning in violation of the Hatch Act. Your employer can make rules. Up to you to follow them. If you don't, you suffer the consequences.

Just so happens I just returned from a vacation in Playa Del Carmen two weeks ago. Had this ban been in effect, I would not have gone. Not worth risking my career to make a point on whether my employer can prohibit my travel.

No surprise. The fault lies with the Senate, and with the minority Senator with the most influence on his side of the aisle who blocked passage. I blamed the 2013 shutdown on Sen. Cruz, and rightly so. I was very vocal about his obstinance. To be consistent, the blame this time is on Sen. Schumer. He was the yes or no guy for his party just as Cruz was in 2013.

Wow. Unless you're being sarcastic (and I have a fairly well-tuned sarcasm meter), your comments are way out of line. I don't know 36YRFED and I'm not defending him. I'm only a 15 yrfed, so what do I know? But what I do know is that denigrating someone in the workplace because of their age is not only stupid it's illegal. Being "out of touch" has no age boundary. In fact, my observation is that a far higher percentage of the younger new hires are more disconnected, distracted, and unfocused than their more senior counterparts. But the issue is not age, it is experience, abilities, and skill sets. Focus on those characteristics, not age.

The blog covers a spectrum of disenchanted, or truth-seeking Mormons as well as ex-Mormons. Just because they don't blindly accept the teachings of TCOJCOLDS does not make them "anti-Mormon". You do allow for members to exercise their agency, do you not?

Your logically fallacy is almost comical.
Zero airline deaths last year from terrorists = We don't need TSA.
Nobody robbed the bank last year = We don't need the armed guard in the lobby.
This is a false equivalency. The first part of the equation would at least indicate that there is a deterrence effect, and at best proves the efficacy of the screening processes.

LOL! Low bar?? Mr. Kelly isn't just talking about an airliner at NYC, he's saying there has not been an aviation terrorist event in the US since 9/11. That's not a low bar, that is the TSA's mission. If you think that's a "low bar", imagine yourself in charge of aviation security responsible for ensuring the security of the flying public, and see how much sleep you get at night. Every day there are 2 million passengers screened and 24,000 commercial flights, plus cargo and charter flights, not to mention rail, mass transit, pipeline, and maritime transportation assets in a scope that is incomprehensible and without equal anywhere in the world. As airports and airliners are attacked around the world, (Brussels, Daallo, Metrojet, Malaysia) I would posit that the TSA doesn't deserve your ridicule, it deserves your appreciation.

I don't understand all these big-talkers and their idle meaningless threats. Half of Hollywood said they would move to Canada, but unfortunately they didn't. I wish these 28 percent of disgruntled feds would honor their pledge. Would be more opportunities for the rest of us. But unfortunately they won't. The wimps don't have the guts to follow through on their threats.

People shouldn't confuse policies for the "carry-on bag" for the ship with those of the airline. Liquids are not allowed in carry-on bags for air travel. Need to pack the wine (very carefully) in your checked bag for the flight and then transfer to your carry-on for the cruise. Or buy the wine at the city of your cruise embarkation.

I lived in VA for 12 years. Would never move back. Yes, lots of history--lots to see and do--but that's in the category of "great place to visit, wouldn't want to live there." Too crowded, high taxes, traffic, etc. I'm just not an east coast guy--give me anywhere in the west--including Wyoming--any day! It's about low taxes and wide-open spaces!
