Interests rates have never been lower and the building cost are down because of the bad economy. If we wait for the economy to improve, interests rates and wages will certainly be higher making the project more expensive.

Poop, you continue to spin everything to fit your arguments in a misleading and deceitful way. When will you acknowledge simple facts such as the fire department renovation? You know why the renovations happened in the first place, years of not maintaining the facility caused water damage that turned into toxic mold. This was not frivolous spending as you falsely allege, the renovations were a necessity. Because of the water damage, the cost to repair exceeded the threshold clearly outlined in the Americans with Disabilities act. Once the cost exceeded the threshold, laws above the mayor dictated further improvements had to be made. One law required an elevator, this again had nothing to do with the mayor, city council, or the local pizza delivery boy. The mayor and council had to comply, failure to comply as you wish would have caused fines, penalties, and lawsuits, not to mention the added cost of complying after the renovations were complete. We are lucky to have a mayor that understands the laws, your ignorance of the laws would cost us more money in the long run. You know this but try to spin this as a mayor gone wild, it is a shame that you act in this manner.

The mayor has reduced the number of city employees, regionalized the health department and emergency dispatch, negotiated with unions to reduce health care cost, cut sick pay from accumulating and many other items that you ignore. The budgets have remained flat during the time that federal aid has dried up. This is a personal fight for you, we understand that. You fail to disclose all the facts regarding the fire department renovations and compliance with ADA regulations. The bus stop will help those less fortunate with their travels and benefit the elderly among us. I do not use those programs but I understand there are many that will benefit from these programs. The infrastructures in town are in the same condition as the fire department, unfortunately they will need attention. I do not want higher taxes anywhere, but the cities and towns are not where the blame resides.

Nick Knight, cities and towns received money from state and federal aid for schools and other programs. Since our federal government has become so addicted to spending money on themselves, they had to cut money for aiding states and cites. Just look how much in previous aide the City of Amesbury received 5-10 years ago compared to today. The cities and town have to rely more on fees and property taxes to make up for the lost revenue. I'm sorry that you did not understand my earlier post regarding federal spending. Taxor/poop would agree with me regarding the overspending by Obama's administration, but he wants to bash the mayor for the end result. I come to expect his bitter outlook from being a Steelers fans.

The reason the tax bills increase is the state and federal funding continues to drop. The school funding dropped by 1.9 million this year. President Obama is spending money so fast that states and towns are being squeezed financially.

The firemen must be close to the equipment to respond to emergencies. I can just imagine the hissy fit you would throw if the fire department was delayed in their response to your family's emergency.

You can change your name from taxor to poop, it is all the same misleading story telling. How much of the revenue has been cut from the state and Federal levels? All of the cities and towns have lost so much funds and have property taxes left. In case you missed it, the election just passed you by, you had your chance and the votes made their choice. The only coincidence is the groups agenda and the timing of Droese's opinion in the paper.
