The Trillion spent on the war went into the pockets of the government contractors that had close ties to our president and the vice-president. We spent money on things the army has taken care for themselves for the history of the USA. It was outsourced to private companies. Guess who?
What I would like to know is where is this money going to come from? We have already spent all of the taxpayers money for the next century and the cost to service our national debt is going to the owners of the Federal Reserve. In case you don't know it, the Federal Reserve is a group of banks that are allowed to print our money. We then pay then interest for the additional money they put in circulation. Check this out for yourself.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...

Re: "Trillion with a T: How to Spend a Trillion Dollars"

I have news for you Kay, we are already there.

Re: Why We Need to Stop 'Pay to Play'

Jeff, please keep your integrity and run for president.

Re: Why We Need to Stop 'Pay to Play'

Why can't AZ realize that they should stop spending our limited budget on issues that shouldn't be part of government like bills for the "Right to Life" and worry about how to overcome the shortfall our leegislation has created. Spen those tax dollars on audits of departments that have a manager for every 3 employees. Isn't that a little pork in its own. Leave our schools alone and lay off some of the excess political appointees.

Re: Why We Need to Stop 'Pay to Play'

When are we going to realize that we cannot service the debt president Bush and his predecessors have created with their bogus wars that favor the rich and the ridiculous spending on bureaucracies like the Department of Energy? The DOE does nothing they were created to do. They were supposed to get us away from oil; instead they have enforced the use of it. Their budget is over $20 billion a year.
By the way, what ever happened to the “Contract with America” the Republican senate took down the steps and promised to us in 1994.
Let me refresh your memory on that here is the gist of it.
FIRST, require all laws that apply to the rest of the country also apply equally to the Congress;
SECOND, select a major, independent auditing firm to conduct a comprehensive audit of Congress for waste, fraud or abuse;
THIRD, cut the number of House committees, and cut committee staff by one-third;
FOURTH, limit the terms of all committee chairs;
FIFTH, ban the casting of proxy votes in committee;
SIXTH, require committee meetings to be open to the public;
SEVENTH, require a three-fifths majority vote to pass a tax increase;
EIGHTH, guarantee an honest accounting of our Federal Budget by implementing zero base-line budgeting.
When is that going to happen?????
