I don't buy into the mantra that he is just naive and inexperienced. He is either the most stupid person ever to sit in the Oval office, or he is deliberately creating economic disaster in order to implement his radical socialist agenda. I believe he's an ideologue deliberately creating crisis. One of my parodies says it all "We Need a Little Litmus" (channel 424Julie on Youtube)

Re: Group says city violated its free speech rights

Wow. So much for freedom of speech. Every post is an opinion. Let the 'accused' come on and rebut the comments as they are. Good grief!

Editor's note: Yes, every post is an opinion, which is why Hometown News has always had a policy that allows individuals or organizations to comment on such "opinions" if they choose to do so. The comments were sent as is, that is, not edited. If the indivdual or organization chooses not to respond to the comments, usually within two weeks, then we will post them to the site, edited for spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors.

Re: Group says city violated its free speech rights

The sign is pretty straight-forward. There is no doubt as to the "official" opinion. The city doesn't "endorse, support or condone" the views or products of these organizations. That seems pretty direct. It isn't the typical "no endorsement is implied," and the additional statement that begins with "However..." is in even more bold type, the implication being that we threatened a lawsuit in order to participate in Freedom Fest.
We paid our fee, and our organizers attended all of the organizational meeting required for participation in the parade and to have a booth. The Tea Party Group handed out such un-endorsed, un-supported and un-condoned items such as FREE copies of the Constitution of the United States and the Declaration of Independence. We also provided opportunities to find out about our group and voluntarily sign petitions. It's too bad that the park director didn't want to speak to CITIZENS, and decided to make a scene by arriving with the sign with his armed police backup.
Incidentally, the church was handing out water. Really scary and subversive! I don't think the vendors next to and across from our booths were happy the foot traffic down the aisle was discouraged by the size and text of the sign. They might as well have posted "enter at your own risk."
How ironic that a day that celebrates our Independence from tyranny should be a venue for this kind of suppression and intimidation of freedom of speech and assembly (both of which are guarnteed in that Constitution the city was so afraid we might distribute). Freedomfest! Ha! Perhaps they should change the name to more accurately reflect the thuggish tactics of the city's administration. SuppressionFest, HarrassmentFest, Anti-FreedomFest, take your pick.
Furthermore, if Freedomfest has a policy of "no politics," then I suggest that all elected officials and political candidates should likewise be discouraged from participation in the Pparade and using the fest as a venue to increase their visibility and dispense literature, make photo-ops, shake hands and hug babies.
