The way you word all your documentation makes it seem as though if I have an account I can just add my iPhone. I think the $45 form $15 is a bit steep. For me it is all about managing expectations. What are your clients or supervisors really expecting out of a social media campaign. How do you educate them about misconceptions and/or setting good goals.

Otherwise you guys nailed it. Great job!

Re: Shadows of Colossus Movie?

I hope they do it right. Or watching the game while on a date.

Re: Cartoons! Also there are too many pitfalls for codes to be really functional.

1. Cell phones cameras don't automatically recognize the codes. So users have to down load extra software and then "know" what to do with it.
2. Most of the time when I scan a code it goes to the website, which isn't optimized for mobile, and really doesn't offer any benefit to the customer.
3. They look ugly. I know I already said that.

I think the future of QR codes will be in a less obvious fashion. Like a bluetooth recognition that sends a push notification like message when in range. If you can take more steps out of the process for the customer it will be easier to get them to jump on board.

I'll admit I'm a little jaded about them.

Re: Is Going Viral An Effective Marketing Tactic?

I maintain that no press is bad press. It's kind of funny that Garry painted the picture of don't be that guy only to create something viral. Granted the context wasn't initially intended but believe you have to be a little shameless when it comes to the masses. All in all being that guy can work.

Re: What I Learned by Doing Nothing

Because I've been pushing myself in new directions, especially at iTwixie. I'm becoming more aware of what isn't jiving in terms of feeling like I'm doing it right but need to fight the lizard brain. The tasks that I do that I know I'm good at are things I've gravitated to because they are comfortable and need to remind myself to keep pushing and growing. Doing part of the job at iTwixie falls into that category.

The more I read about successful people the more I understand they are good at embracing what they aren't good at and conquering it. I read a profile in Fast Company or Ad Age about it.

Re: What I Learned by Doing Nothing

My mind has been in a similar space as I prepare for the end of this upside down year. I've been shifting my thinking in this direction a lot recently. New job, new routine, new desk to clean, etc. So figuring out how to get things done is new for me.

When I was in college someone kept reminding me to just "do it now," in relation to the small things. Put that item all the way away instead of leaving it on the desk. Takes two seconds, then that twenty minute task is smaller. I've found once you get started on any task the do it now mantra becomes a lot easier.

Also, eliminate distractions.

Re: Good and Bad of Labels

I like it and even though I'm about a week late in reading this post I just pushed the label envalope. Only do the hub for sessions that are keynote oriented and keep the room open during the rest of the day.

The only problem is that all the smaller rooms are too small for a highly attended session... if only we had four rooms as large as this years room b.

Re: 12 Things I’m Thinking After PodCamp Pittsburgh 6

I'm glad you wrote this post. I've been thinking about getting my thoughts down somewhere and haven't taken time to do it yet. I think I agree with you on a lot of the points.

To me it is very interesting to see how the event has evolved over the years, and I think how it moves forward can have a reflective thought process. Especially in the fact that we are attracting a lot of 101 level folks. Which isn't a bad thing. PodCamp is offering a great service to a lot of people.

Regarding next year. In fact there is a google doc called PCPGH7 that was circulated among organizers last night. I think we do need a few days break to get caught up on our lives (as organizers). Last week I neglected my regular job to make sure everything on my end was covered. Thankfully Rebecca is awesome and supportive of my involvement with PodCamp. Anyway Eric your making me think that one aspect of PodCamp that the organizers have neglected is the immediate follow up.

We tried to harness post PCPGH5 enthusiasm in the way of An Evening with PodCamp. Perhaps that isn't the right approach. Maybe a more casual open night where people can sit around and talk about "what did we think about PodCamp" needs to happen. I've always thought we should have two events a year. One smaller event with the main one in the fall. We've tried it there is too much load on organizers. Regardless, lots of ideas and lots of opportunity.

Re: Gearing Up For PodCamp Pittsburgh 6

I noticed my spelling error as soon as I hit publish...

Re: Gearing Up For PodCamp Pittsburgh 6

Too bad there isn't an ajacet lot for you to park the RV.
