Peep Show (and That Mitchell and Webb Look) do sometimes air on BBC America. However, I've been doing surfthechannel. YouTube posts tend to get deleted fast while it's airing, but last longer afterwards.

I've watched a couple episodes of Yes, Minister after watching The Thick of It about four or five times all the way through. It's basically that show in a more sitcomy style and with Hawthorne as a far calmer version of Peter Capaldi. Anyway, yes, the episodes are fairly dense and steeped in '80s British politics, but very, very funny and cynical in the way I like.

I went to film school with Tim and Eric. And Diplo. I like to mention that whenever I can.

Yes, you're right. All arts criticism should just be a mindless expression of the pure joy of being art-ed. Whee! Look at the colors!

People: stop posting this useless and literally stupid sentiment here or anywhere else where art is being discussed. WE DON’T CARE. If we only wanted to gawk, slack-jawed, at art we wouldn’t be writing about it. Because there would be nothing to write about. Also, stop misusing words like “pretentious” that you spotted on day-of-the-week toilet paper.

I mean, feel free to turn your brain off when you go to the movies, but at least turn it on when leaving comments.

P.S. I also didn’t like the Friday the 13th revamp. So “pretentious!” It was “brilliantly manipulative!”

Because it's not a hierarchial list or even meant to be definitive. In fact, the whole point of this column, if it's not immediately obvious, is to mention films that are either obscure or not often thought about. And I mentioned Rocky in the article TWICE!

Um, yeah, I know Midsummer Night's Dream. Thanks, buddy. When I say "out of left-field," I mean that up to the halfway mark, this hadn't been a film that a) dealt significantly in magic and b) had been hewing particularly close to the MND storyline. (Though introducing both make the film significantly better from there on out.) Hence my complaints about a certain conceptual sloppiness.

Hate to say it, but before last Thursday I hadn't had a 40 since...probably freshman year of college? When we used to go to the nearby stab-n-grab and sneak malt liquor into the dorms? Good times.

Anyway, I saw a review for this that gave it a D+. Not sure if that was curved for 40s. And the worst part was I had one the next night too!

I was 15 when The Lion King came out, putting me just outside of its target audience. It's probably the most prominent film that's come out since I've been alive that I've never seen, which for awhile had been Boyz N Tha Hood. So I'm probably going to keep it that way.

Good call. On paper she might be pure MPDG, but Emily Watson plays her so calmly that she somehow seems three-dimensional despite there being little evidence anywhere in the picture that she even has an inner life. Even her anger towards the end is pretty easily overcome. Nice work, Emily Watson.
