You called the bills to defund irrelevant. They're not irrelevant. They might be irrelevant to your particular set of circumstances, but that puts you in the position of asking the Republicans to give ground. Essentially pulling for the left, as you put it, if you'll allow the reduction. The answer is don't rely on government for anything. It's not written in stone that these things can't happen.

And there we shall disagree. I found the bills beyond reasonable. The senate and the president could have been happy with 'funding the government', which seemed to be the primary emotional tug in your original proposition.

You obviously don't hold the same contempt and disgust over the ACA that a lot of us do. Consider that, coupled with the offer to fully fund the government', before you call it pointless ploys and dismiss it as irrelevant. There is a reason, and it is well worth it.

Let me get this straight. The Republicans will agree to spend X. The Democrats want to spend X+Y.

Everyone agrees to spend X.

But the Democrats will kill the whole thing because they don't get +Y.
