A false premise of the pro-nuclear argument is that if Iran's enemies have such weapons, then Iran is entitled to have them, based on a false reading of the concept of fairness, or equity. But equity does not apply to the things of war, as for instance in this case, the use of a nuclear weapon may never be said to be "fair," in light of the consequences and regardless of circumstances. ("Of the things of war, equity has nothing to say."--Latin Legal Maxim) Mutually Assured Destruction, or MAD, is not an equitable doctrine, it is a discredited concept of maintaining the peace predicated on the deterrent capability of nuclear armament. Yet since MAD was established, millions of people have been mass murdered by the use of conventional weapons, so much so that it makes no sense to extend the reach of nuclear weaponry to persons who frequently threaten to annihilate their enemies, and who will not be deterred from doing so, particularly if they have nuclear weapons. We can't allow nuclear policy to be dictated by street corner geopoliticians with a completely off the wall sense of fairness that hasn't got a single thing to do with justice.

Re: Common Avoidable Mistakes Made By Investors And, Sadly, Even By Analysts

Pardon me, but I deleted my comments, because one was deleted by someone else.

Re: Common Avoidable Mistakes Made By Investors And, Sadly, Even By Analysts

I'm sorry. During the Vietnam War, LBJ had policies as liberal as Obama, but no one called him a leftist or a socialist. Welfare state is the worst thing in the world, a way of selling out the workers and getting them tom support imperialism. Those people are what in the UK are called "fabian socialists," or Fascists! Big difference.

Re: The Obama ‘Framework’ for Israel’s Doom

Obama has sympathy for illegal immigrants, so all Israel has to do is agree that it is illegal and he'll grant it amnesty and leave it alone.

Re:

Unlike the Jewish educational system, the European and American educational systems descend from the anti-Semitic medieval church, which restricted legal education to clerics and princes, who enforced law upon a laity which was relatively uneducated in the subject and therefore incapable of knowledgeably engaging in legal debate. This is most often true even of modern scholars in the West today, most of whom, unlike anti-Semitic clerics and princes, have never bothered to study the law and know neither its basic principles (such as the Maxims of Equity), nor the methodology used in resolving disputes (such as the presentation and testing of evidence). The standard for proof in a courtroom is much more rigorous than in scholarship. By contrast, Jewish "laymen" are well trained in the law at an early age, and bring that knowledge to bear when arguing any question. Most of the participants in BDS are ignorant of the law and incapable of fairly evaluating either the evidence or the law which applies to it, and therefore they are not likely to be fair when discussing the issues upon which they have based their sanctions. The law experts connected to BDS, including clerics and princes, are in many, if not all cases, anti-Semitic, and ignore the law in favor of ancient prejudice.

Re: Kurds drive ISIS out of Kobani after 4-month struggle

Great victory! I'm surprised the hypocritical EU and US media don't blame the Kurds for throwing ISIS out. He was the main anti-Communist ideologue of the post Viet Nam war era, and in many ways much worse than Kissinger, who inspired one of the bloodier protests of the Viet Nam war era in New York. For those of us who lived through the period, a candidate is fairly judged by the company he chooses to keep. The Left has been betrayed too many times not to beware of men like Brzezinski.

Re: Welcome to the CPUSA '08 Elections Blog

Re Barack Obama
I have read that Zbigniew Brzezinski, the arch enemy of international Socialism (and architect of the downfall of Communism in Eastern Europe) is foreign policy advisor to the Obama campaign. What will our comrades in the former Soviet Union think of us if we supoort such a candidate? No Socialist in good conscience can support a candidate who takes advice from one of history's most doctrinaire opponents of Socialism. The foundation of the New Left was in the principle that foreign peoples must have the right to choose Communism over Imperialist Capitalism, a principle of which Brzezinski is a main opponent. We must ask the question, if Brzezinski opposes Socialism overseas, how much more does he oppose it in the USA, and how will he influence Obama against it? If we must vote, let's vote for a Socialist candidate instead.
