I hoped that post- election sense would find a way to bring Powers back into the fold, but all this Clinton stuff is making that less likely. Maybe after the inevitable implosion, Powers can take a post with the "replacements".

Doesn't take a weatherman to see that the GOP has declared war on the unions. Again. I expect a concerted effort to smear MoveOn as well. These two groups really made a difference in the last election and the GOP hated it.

Related news from Atlantic City: Borghotta(sp?) has layed off ten percent of their employees, the city has rolled back their smoking ban in the casinos to help them stay afloat.. Seems people staring at the depression abyss aren't into pissing their money away.

Lieberman has a state full of voters really fed up with him. He seems to have this attitude that he's bullet-proof. I don't think the political climate at the time he comes up for re-election matters, he is in trouble. He gets 30-35 pct, static, whether he's a gooper or an independent.

I think Begich is a lock. The mystery now is what Alaska does with the soon to be indicted and convicted underboss Don Young. He is going to win re-election. Maybe he'll file a motion to combine his case with Rep Jefferson in a tribute to the post-partisan president.

My opinion for what it's worth, is that they cannot reward his behavior. Give him a lesser committee, or none, but to pretend that his behavior is no big deal is ridiculous. I am not vindictive, but there is a limit to cheek turning in politics. If he feared for his chair, there was a simple remedy.
And I agree with WestCoastian above. His collusion with Rove and bushco is far more disturbing than his shilling for McPOW. I don't trust him at all to do a proper job at DHS.

This pleases me. The infestation of DC with lobbyists is horrible. However, the content of the article doesn't talk about the real problem, the second congress. That is the ex-members with envelopes that glide the halls and corrupt our system.
