so there is a isekai light novel website, this is where SAO comes from originally, because of the animated adaption of it it grew in popularity of course, it got so bad, and so unoriginal that the site banned isekais from being made, it was a contest that spurred the over saturation. When you understand the troupe it make since as to why its popular, but its been done so much in just the past 5 years that is literally has become a problem for the market.

Or cowboybebop simply because it broke through the pack. want to go more more weird ? mermaids flesh from the 80s-90s, deep blue, paprika. Akira, RED LINE. i would show things that defined the genre vs things that simply look the same, and that would be alot of works from the 80s to 90s.
