It was about time. I am going to listen to this one my flight back home. Can't wait.

One issue. The audio link (MP3) is not very obvious to find. It will be great to have an icon or something that say MP3 or audio so people can quickly find it, grab a copy and go. Just a suggestion.

Have a great week-end and thank you for doing this.

Mo.

Re: How 99designs Built A $5+ Million Marketplace In 16 Months. – With Matt Mickiewicz

Thanks Andrew.

I just love this guy! Matt has compelling value proposition and he know how to always present is such logic way! 99Designs is such a great concept. I will definitely use it when I start my startup! Also, Matt is right, 99Designs is a great name. I can imagine 99Names (product naming site), 99YourNameIt... I really like the fact that the customer get to see multiple designs and choose the one he/she like instead of hiring ONE designer and pray that it would work out. That's what I call the future!

Mo.

Re: The Woman Who Paid Me $1 Million In Affiliate Revenue Teaches You About Affiliate Programs. - With Lisa Riolo

Thank you Lisa for your answer. I like the example of the diamond ring sale. I think it may have to do with the risk level. Buying an e-book let say $20 is not the same thing as buying a $1000's ring. Still I saw a very compelling landing page selling "how to be first class copywriter" and the DVD's were a $1000...

In any event, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us. I appreciate it very much.

Mo.

Re: The Woman Who Paid Me $1 Million In Affiliate Revenue Teaches You About Affiliate Programs. - With Lisa Riolo

I am not done listening to this audio yet (these days, I hate days with no traffic problems because I cannot hear these interviews in all..ha ha!) Anyway, so far I was kind of surprise (not completely) by the "ugly page with misspellings can be lucrative" item. I will be interested about people thought on why "crappy" pages would make more money? my thought (probably naive) is that people react to those pages because they appear more "real" than a fancy looking, clean page (more genuine is my guess) Still, logically people, would look for a reputable web site before reaching for their wallet. Since people are making $$$ with these affiliate networks, my guess is that i am wrong about my logic...

Great interview!

Mo

Re: Techniques Direct Marketers Use To Ensure Success Before They Even Launch A Product. -With Chance Barnett

Thank you very much for sharing the link. I get it now. I actually click on many Ads today and a lot of them go to an actual web sites but I found one who is actually just one (long) page which is simply a sales letter. A pretty convincing sales letter at that. I almost wanted to buy but the $997 cost stopped me! I realized that all he needed to sale was 1000 copies (bunch of DVD how's to) and "voila" a $1000,000...

I am wondering how many people are buying from a one page sale letter but I guess it works!

Thanks Paul.

Re: Techniques Direct Marketers Use To Ensure Success Before They Even Launch A Product. -With Chance Barnett

I agree 100% with you Paul. This is probably the best interview so far. Even so i was there live, I need to listen to it again. We need Chance to come back and tell us more. I could feel that he had 1000 more things to share but was limited with time. It is the first I think, when a guest knew exactly what viewers wanted to know without Andrew probing questions!

GREAT interview...

Mo.

Re: Techniques Direct Marketers Use To Ensure Success Before They Even Launch A Product. -With Chance Barnett

"....They build a series of a few landing pages that are directly targeted to that market, or that product...."

I am still trying to get around the idea of "landing page" in this context of testing. Does Chance mean build a simple one page web site with some content related to the product/service you are trying to know more about? What people are suppose to do when clicking on the ad and landing on that page? Sure you may put a lot of content on that page but it is not really a web site so people may feel dumped no? I am assuming here that you are just trying to get some measurement of what keywords/phrases work better as well as i suppose the actual concept of what you are trying to sell to people.

I will be grateful for any pointers. I am just trying to figure is a landing simply where the ads take you (a one page design for testing) or landing page means any page of your web site (multiple pages I assume here) where you rather send your potential users?

Thanks guys.

Mo.

Re: Small Changes That Helped UserVoice Raise $800,000 From Investors. – With Marcus Nelson

sorry wrong interview. You could also ask the person you interview to share an e-book they wrote of something else of value and provided to your readers. At least until you can get your own stuff. Seth has good stuffs if you can get him to share!!

Just a suggestion here. You really do not want to promise something and do not deliver. We are all you friends and rooting for you here. We know the value of this site not matter what the site look like. BUT sometimes it takes only one person to damaged a great brand.

Mo.

Re: What do you think of Pallian Creative’s makeover of Mixergy? For a while the new site had a similar list in the "Most popular" section (no complete but great list nonetheless) but now it is gone.

It will be much more convenient to simply jump to that list a grab an MP3 file (or watch a video) than having to either search or browse the all site for a specific interview. A simple list of interviews link will be just fine. You could just use the same great headlines you always come up with so we can remember what the interview is about. For the most popular ones, you could do what you did the list of interview people must listen to which adding a quick reason why. For the rest as simple title will be just fine.

I will also LOVE if you could add all the URL or book names that you talk about in the interview. I found some of the links to be of great value (since they are suggested by your guests or you) I listen to each interview in full (mostly in my car) and cannot always remember a good site name or a book during the interview. Maybe you can just list all the URL/books talks about during an interview at the bottom of interview page. Later, you may even have a potpourri of all the URL/books ever talked about during the past interviews. Again, I think it will add a great value to your listener.

I am not sure how difficult these two things are to implement but I wanted to share them.

Very cool site! The black band at the top was genius. The site look now truly represent the "Mixergy" brand.

Great job Andrew/Pallian!

Mo.

Re: Customers Hate Your Product? I really love when the people you interview just start talking on their own without always waiting for your questions after every 30 seconds. It nice to see people who can explain their stuff and time to time stop long enough to get your guidance on what to talk about next. The interview had a perfect timing to it. You are very good at sensing when the person needs some more questions because they have said what they wanted to say. That's very informative and cool to see!

I have just finishing a Palm/Treo a very realistic F-16 flight combat simulator (mobile game) I was in stealth mode for one year! This interview (and other here) made me see how much that was wrong! Even so I had couple of alpha testers over that time, I still think now that it was big mistake. I was not able to get a complete feedback and mostly did it the way I thought it needed it to be done. I hope it will be a success but if not, I will know why... Thanks God, it is just an hobby of mine and I am not waiting for that product to put food on the table. No more Stealth mode for me!

Thanks Eric, thanks Andrew!

Mo.

Re: How To Save Your Business From Near Disaster In A Down Market – with Verne Harnish

Congrats for the Technology Council's Awards judging! I checked out the site and WOW the panel was impressive. I am sure you did a great job there (I am jealous, I want your job...ha ha)

In term of homepage, like i said who am I to judge. In case of gazelles, it is clear that Verne is the type of person that TALKS to the customer (and do not just count on web/email) so his homepage may not be that business critical. Probably every person who land there is already sold on the product./service Still your observation about a busy homepages making more money is really interesting. What it is your sense about that? Could it be that somehow those businesses are bringing higher value to the customer AND just happen to have a more cluttered site? I see many half baked web 2.0 companies with great/clear looking homepages but very little to show for in term of value to the customer...

Have a super week-end Andrew.

Mo.

Re: How To Save Your Business From Near Disaster In A Down Market – with Verne Harnish

I just finished to view this interview and I can say that it is one of the top one i have seen so far on Mixergy. Thanks so much Andrew!

Verne is a very smart cookie! I really like the way he uses science (and especially brain studies) to make changes/decisions in his business.

I have only one beef with his web site: The home is WAY too busy! It is just overwhelming. I know that he has enough great info in there to last me the next 6 months of reading but in my humble opinion, that's really scary homepage. The design is also a little dated (very web 1.0) I will think that executives (his target market would expect a cleaner design BUT he is making millions of $$ a year with that business and I am not so who am I to judge!

In any event, this is a superb interview. Please, please pull up and add to the excerpt all the books and web sites the people you interview mention. That will be a great value added to the interview. I know that you do that often. I need to re-listen and stop when Verne talks about a book or a site.

Have a great week-end all.

Mo.

Re: Test infusionsoft

Hello Andrew,

Anyway to remove this type of post once you have edited and posted the actual interview? It will reduce the amount of scrolling and make each blog entry an actual interview.

Thanks.

Mo.

ps; The problem would be comments left by people (if any) on this type of post. But I think the actual interview comments would be more interesting since they are given after the interview have been posted and seen.

Re: Entrepreneur interviews you must listen to

Very cool list Andrew! Very handy. Any way to have that list by itself and always easily accessible? Could you put it in the gray box below or as a link? I do not know WordPress so I have no idea what can be done or not but it will be very helpful to have that kind of summary list where we could jump right in. I know that we can search or browse the all blog but an central place would be better in my mind. By the way is this list complete? It seems to me that you have much more interviews in your blog but I could be wrong.

Thanks Andrew.

Mo.

ps: Maybe you can just add all the interviewers pictures to the right section called "popular teachers" that way we can just click on the pictures to see all the interviews by that person. If you add to their name, the company name and maybe one or two keywords, we can then quickly figure out what to expect...just a a suggestion.

Re: Upcoming Live Interview: Specific Steps To Earning More From Google AdSense In A Down Market

Bad content making more money in ads?
