You know these are American Citizens, right? What are you basing your "observation" on?

Re: Bristol Palin Compares Josh Duggar to Lena Dunham, Points Out "Double Standards" in Blog Post Titled "What Kinds of Molestation Are Acceptable"

Where in the world would a two-year-old "pick up" "behavior" like that? Natural curiosity about your body parts is completely different from hitting another child.

Re: Bristol Palin Compares Josh Duggar to Lena Dunham, Points Out "Double Standards" in Blog Post Titled "What Kinds of Molestation Are Acceptable"

What exactly would you be concerned about?

Re: Bristol Palin Compares Josh Duggar to Lena Dunham, Points Out "Double Standards" in Blog Post Titled "What Kinds of Molestation Are Acceptable"

If my seven-year-old daughter did that to my one-year-old daughter it wouldn't phase me. Children see someone with the same parts as they have and are curious. A 15 year old knows about sex and is curious about it. My seven-year-old doesn't know what sex is. That's a huge difference. To say otherwise is ignorant.

Re: Bristol Palin Compares Josh Duggar to Lena Dunham, Points Out "Double Standards" in Blog Post Titled "What Kinds of Molestation Are Acceptable"

Lena was 7. 7-year-olds don't think about sex like a 15 year old boy. There's a difference between anatomical curiosity and molestation. I don't see how that isn't a "DUH" moment for you.

Re: Jessica Alba Stuns in Blue Bikini, Admits Working Out "Sucks" -- Find Out How She Breaks a Sweat

Well, since my comments are being deleted maybe I should cancel my subscription? Shame on the people who think that a 9-year-old can't have her own thoughts and ideas. If that were my daughter who wanted her voice heard I would support her, like your mom is supporting you. If you are worried, I'd just compare the sizes of the bottle you are using to the Avent bottle. I hope that's at least a little helpful.

Re: Thanksgiving Traditions

Thanks! Today they get 1/2 of 1% of the budget. Going to the moon in a decade is easier when you have the funding to do it. If they funded NASA like they did in the Apollo days we wouldn't be having this discussion...

Re: What Does "Gifted" Mean?

I, too, was considered "gifted" when I was in school. I breezed through school up until finishing High School with an "A" average with very little studying. Then when I went to college the real work began. ^_^ So, I totally feel you there.

My mother and father never worked with us at home as far as academics were concerned either. Good grades were just expected. I am hoping that school will be as easy for Willow as it was for me, whether or not she is "gifted". She certainly doesn't fit the profile from what I've read, but then often times it doesn't really show until they are school-aged. Which, I suppose, is why they don't bother with IQ testing until then.

Re: The School "Edge"?

I think it's also important to see how ready your child is. Some children are ready at 5 and some need more time. I remember Kindergarten as a time when I played and napped (I don't think they do that anymore) and had fun. But that was a long time ago.

Re: The School "Edge"?

I do think that, in the interests of trying to be #1, the United States has made some wrong turns. According to the study I linked to, countries like Finland and Japan don't start 1st grade until children are 7 (like you said) and, the first years are dedicated to imaginative play and experimentation, instead of structured learning.

Since I have a few more years before we have to make a final decision, I think I am going to do more research and talk to the parents I work with to see what they have done (if anything). I really do want her to like school, and not see it as either boring or a chore.

I hope your boys learn to like school!! I know I liked it when I was a kid. But we didn't learn to read in Kindergarten so...

Re: Who's here?

Awesome!
