My father-in-law celebrated his birthday by taking all his grandkids out to pizza, no gifts from them! Your site is a place of solace for me to visit. Thank you!!!^_^
I had a most cherished article of clothing, but not one I wore out of the house. It was a gentlemens smoking jacket(batrobe). It was old. It was long. it was burgandy on the outside and gold lined. It had a crest on the right side of the chest. It was also a satin type of fabric, thick and shiny. In high school, I wore this day and night when at home. It was the absolute love of my life. The perfect hug.

Re: I Am A Katharine

I am a Grace-as in Kelly! You just say it better.

Re: Leaves On The Track

Leaves on the track? That is pure rubbish! What you have is life to live dear girl and I think you are doing a very fine job of it. As much as I love to read yours and other blogs, I am really ok with you all not making excuses for not writting. You have invited us into your lives with the intention of sharing. Who says you have even have to? Let alone the amout you do. Stop telling yourself that we need to know why you haven't and just tell us the events as you want. You are fantastic in the writting arena,I wouldn't have you stop. Make up your mind to do what and when you will, and I think that you will find that you will still have us reading what you write. Enjoy this lovely season with all its busyness and lights!

Re: The True Measure of Happiness

The book idea was a great one for me a couple of years ago. It was actually a new years resolution to change part of my reading habit. I was reading only one kind of writing(romance, e gads!!!) so took it upon myself to read something more interesting. Started reading travles logs, Peter Mayle to start with. Life has been different since. I don't read as much romance as I used too, adding in a bio or a cookbook even. In all fairness, there is not much you can do in the garden in the cold and dark so you do have to do something inside. Maybe go to a large store that is open late just for a walking place. We have indoor shopping malls here in the states that let people do walking when the stores are closed. Playing games, even with your small family is a great way to use some of the time, as opposed to t.v.
Being S.A.D. is not an option!!! use as many !!!! as you will!!! have fun!!!!

Re: Our Children Are Not Our Children

Brava! Just for the fact that you even allow yourself to make the purchase of a bible for your very little one. Did you have one as a child? I have always been in church, sometimes with my mother, most of the time without. She did help me by getting me there on time, finding someone to answer my questions when she couldn't provide them, and recognizing the fact that I was different.
She was raised in church and left. I would encourage you to make sure that you have someone who trusts and belives in the words of scripture as their guide in life to be there for little Finn's major questions concerning scripture. Then you could give him your point of view as well. Especially if you don't recognize their importance. I would also encourage you to read it for yourself and enjoy the wonderful stories, truths, and poetry involved. Who better to share the Glory of the LORD with Finnley than you?

Re: Gluten Free Cakes

Thank you for sharing the recipe and the fact of your flour choice. In the states though, we have learned that the blood test is a false negative 95% of the time. Tested our littlest at the age of 2, test said negative. recently stopped gluten of our own choice at Easter and have a much happier girl. Dad is celiac.Don't forget that some of the symptoms are not necessarilily toilet related. Brain fog and depression follow very close. love to read that your perspective is so different than some who sound like "Gluten Nazis". I do understand the paranoia that comes with this lifestyle, but once you get in the grove some people really need to lighten up on service staff at resturants. Always talk to the kitchen manager first by phone before you chose to dine out. It will make everyone much happier, than having o send food back and forth.Been doing this for 12 years. hugs to you alison! and to allout there this really does get easier.

Re: Disappearing Act!

would love for you to share the recipe. would you mind terribly?
