Awesome! We keep getting the bus at Trinity college, and are planning to check it out tomorrow. We hear it's a really good school so congrats on being a smarty pants and getting in. :) You must try to see the Kings of Leon when they come to Dublin. Any other recommendations for what we should do? We have relatives from Cork County. Is that where you are?

Pirate is doing MUCH better. He ate today and took his pain pills and his antibiotics without any problem. He's resting comfortably on my friend Alex's lap right now.

I am feeling much better. My hand is a bit swollen but I'm going to live.

I was really shaken yesterday but I went to bed thinking how blessed I am to have my health and that P's injuries were minor compared to what could have happened. He's already trying to run around, and I don't know that he'll have much of a limp at all.

Thanks again for all the well-wishes, everyone. The outpouring of support has been amazing.

Yeah. Last night I visited a friend's page and got to thinking about this. She's a great girl who married a guy from our high school at 19 or so and they had a child shortly thereafter. The two have since divorced, but they remain good friends who are raising their little girl together. She still has his name, and there are a ton of pictures on FB of the two of them with their child. Yet her relationship status says: Single.

I think as many people were as confused about this as I was, because she posted something a while back that said: "For all those of you who asked, we're no longer married but we are raising our daughter together." Or something to that effect. I commend their maturity and their ability to do what's best for their kid, and I can see why she kept his last name (same as her child's).

They're doing things the right way, but seeing that she still has his name even though she's 25 and divorced got me thinking about women who marry the wrong guy way too young almost as a blip, and then keep his last name indefinitely. It just feels bizarre.

I'm not rounding anyone up! I don't care about tarring and feathering these people. I just think that morally it becomes a bit dicey to take the government's money if you're already rich when millions of people are left with nothing because of your department's shady dealings. Just because it is LEGAL doesn't mean it is RIGHT. Big, big difference.

But if you can take that fat bonus and sleep at night, more power to you, I guess.

From that article:

THIS GUY WORKED FOR THE SAME COMPANY AS THE ELECTRICIAN. Let's say a plumber and an electrician are in business together and they go and work on houses as a package deal. If the plumber does his job and then his partner, the electrician, burns down the house, it would take a lot of gall for the plumber to come back and say "Technically even though you have nothing you should still pay me because I wasn't the person who burned down your house--that was my partner."

In this case the guy who wrote the letter was part of the Financial Products Division of AIG (i.e. an electrician by name) who is saying he did plumbers work. So really, it's more like this guy showed up to the house with the electricians, ended up doing plumbers work instead, and when his teammates burned that sucker to the ground he's like: "Hold up! I fixed the toilet! Not my fault! Pay me!"

I guess the difference between me and this guy is that if I fixed someone's toilet and then my partners burned his house down, I wouldn't go knocking on that person's tent demanding payment because that would be totally awkward.
