Jane is speaking at SXSW Interactive, the conference before the music event starts. There will be tons of night parties but this ain't no rock 'n' roll show. Not for several days, anyway. This will be geeks, mostly men, wandering around a conference center under florescent lights.

This may be one of those times when you thank your body for getting you this far, then let your mind rest. Chemo and radiation do what they want to your system. You're listening to mind and body, analyzing data, seeking formulas toward solutions. You've done verything right.

Writing "from the outside"? The reason this guy didn't receive press credentials to SXSW is he clearly doesn't get it. He will, indeed, be writing from the outside regardless of the kind of ticket he has.

Shearling requires the pelt, ie the skin. The animals have to be slaughtered.

So everyone wearing UGG boots is basically wearing fur.

It seems like the shearling thing has been looked over in the debate about fur.

I'm not so sure. I think it has to do with people gaining experience and maturity, with people realizing they worked 110% without 110% results. Only in hindsight can people see that they made dumb decisions to put work first. Unless that's how they always want to live, measuring success in terms of profession, with work-goals as life goals. There will always be people who are late to dinner or don't take vacations or miss graduations because they _had_ to work. Really, "having to work" is a priority thing.
