Interesting, I can't wait until Duolingo supports the Hausa language. In the meantime I would continue to take on the difficult task of having a useful, informative, comprehensive online Hausa dictionary at HausaDictionary.com like SpanishDict.com for Spanish.

Interesting effort. Ok, I understand the logic of forcing people to read often boring texts that after a while becomes cliche to get a sense of someone's personality instead of a tinder-style picture shallowness and all, but the lack of pictures upfront often equates to a waste of time and sometimes it's even hurtful for someone to be interested in someone's profile but as soon as they see that person's picture... it's "umm never mind." Nevertheless, good effort, love the tumblr blog and stats. Will see where this sites goes.

Very well put and true. Although perhaps you should be a bit more specific as the default state of a startup by unknown/less established or 1st time founders (who are the majority) is failure.

Once you've got one successful business/startup, it seems like that goes a long way to making your successive ventures a success. Casing point may be Jack Dorsey with twitter allowed him to market Square.

Wow, this is so true right here. I've noticed this trend immediately after only 50 job applications. It takes a whole lot of tenacity and courage to keep at it and in the end it might not even be worth it.

The key might be if you're lucky and saved up enough for a while is to find something productive that you enjoy or at least don't mind doing too much that you can do on your own in the meantime. If it makes money, great! If not, you still probably get the benefit of being less stressed, learn and network more, be more productive thus more happy, better emotional health, etc.

If you casually apply to the few really interesting jobs that you think you're a good match for, and try to network to get that job interview, I have a feeling you'll get it.

For real, for real, I feel like taking care of the basics like networking (doing what you enjoy above) and having a search engine optimized resume/website/linkedin profile is much more important than applying to a lot of jobs since there are recruiters and employers out there looking to fill those jobs and it's much more satisfying and probably easier to have them contact you first.

Indeed YOU are most likely more important than your start-up so you do indeed have to take care of yourself. I have to constantly be self-aware/mindful and take time to step back, review, strategize, meditate,
prioritize, and get back to being productive. Believe it or not, I'm lucky enough to have found religious (Islam)/spiritual assistance lately so I've been pushing forward full-steam ahead on my own through the ups and downs of unemployment and entrepreneurship with a zen-like mentality for the most part. Nice write-up!

I share this person's sentiment 100%. And don't feel bad for feeling bad too :D, it's totally healthy so long as you don't fixate on negative thoughts or the past and learn from your mistakes and push forward and I know, us humans are such complex creatures aren't we XD.

I would love to see such analytics of who's viewing me but not sure if I want to show up on some people's analytics. I know that's not fair and perhaps only Facebook employees have that capability / access but it's fun to think about. Maybe they can do what LinkedIn does and give users options to choose if they want to see who's viewing their profile and if so, in return, you will also show up on other people's reports.
