Much love always to los grandes Latino Rebels. While I agree that not speaking Spanish doesn't make you any less Latino, I'd say it hurts a potential national Latino political candidate like Castro. Rubio / Malloy comparisons are fun for political stargazers (like me), but sooner or later, I figure Univision will get their debates. Rubio is an ultimate weapon for the GOP in that forum. Not only is Rubio a highly groomed political superstar (so far), it would be very risky for Dems to push a Latino politico 'response' who can't handle a Jorge Ramos interview in fluent Spanish, as Rubio did.

If I'm reading this correctly, an undocumented immigrant applying for deferred action in Arizona would not get deferred action. So Arizona's undocumented population should not come forward yet, no? Also, I wonder...could an applicant be detained based on the information given in their application?

I think the reason why they probably don't allow the video to be embedded is because they're testing things out right now, seeking feedback, and not looking to blow up in the sharable digital universe yet. That said, I can almost guarantee that remarks like yours here (which I wholly agree with) aren't overlooked. FOX News Latino was the first-mover into the space, and has proceeded assertively but carefully in establishing its reputation. As the competition heats up between the big networks and independent news outlets for Latino content consumers, my take on Mundo FOX is that it is very carefully dipping its toe in the waters where the big Spanish-language fish have a big head start. Props on your review here, though -- else I'd have likely missed the video.

Also, full disclosure, I've contributed to FOX News Latino & dig what they have going there, but this comment is mine alone.

And before you presume to scrutinize Alicia's education, age, intellect, compassion, insurance policy, position on gun ownership, and right to vote (and then rib the judgment of all of America's voting females), consider that Alicia got paid for her point-of-view which runs here beneath her name.

You, on the other hand, volunteer your rant 'neath a moniker which translates quite cleanly to "bitter".

My take: The word "pussyfoot isn't used enough in stateside politics. HT Alicia for aptly flinging it at a nebulous stateside aggression that made a good teenager a corpse in central Florida.

I'd agree that in the long-term, education is the most pressing issues for stateside Hispanics. But a College Board Survey discovering this seems a bit like a conflict of interest, no?

In my experience, Santiago de chilenos - all chilenos, really - tend to be racist as a mug. Geo-cultural isolation makes for narrow imaginations sometimes. Thus a black man walking the streets of Santiago is said, regardless of how he looks, to look like Michael Jordan; y mi gran abuelita Guille y mis primas agree that I look like Brad Pitt, o Bra' Peet!

...not that this is a good thing. It isn't. I worked in the UK Parliament where constituent grievances were relevant to Members and never once in the 6 months leading up to the 2005 general election did I see a British subject offer a British lawmaker anything beyond a vote. No call for volunteers. No campaign finance frenzy. Just a vote, or not, then back to governance.

I lived on The Hill for a year during TARP & can guarantee that any official no-lobbying pledge is inevitably broken after hours over beers, laughs, dinner, dancing, etc. As is so often the case, regarding lobbying The Hill, "Distance creates an uncomplicated vision" of what it is and is not. Ultimately, all meaningful lobbying in our Congress is anchored in established relationships or dinero, vato. But I'd wager most is in established relationships. The only thing more-valuable than knowing a secret in D.C. is having a favor to ask.

My sister approached me to make her a Facebook without asking mom. No prob, I said, & walked her through the privacy settings one at a time; showed her how to see what her profile looks like to others; etc. We uploaded a decent profile picture and I showed her how to avoid a public viewership via Facebook's content sharing settings.

Then I copied her gmail address (which we set up together to make her Facebook) and the password I chose for her Facebook profile into an email that I sent to my father, mother, & both of mis hermanitos, her hermanos majores. She's the youngest, and our only hermanita, "la unica que tengo", says my father. We're born to protect her from men.

...and my mom, smarter than us all, forwarded my email to my sister, helped her chose a new password, claiming (falsely) to have bever been 100% opposed to her having "A Facebook", but that they start out with one that the two of them could "share", learn to use together.

Now my mom is on Facebook too. And with uncanny frequency she now comes through with a monster "Like" on a share she read into with mom-like precision.

My father won't do Facebook, so rendezvous on "el eSkyper".
