Their policies are for everyone. Want to buy a new theme or badges or stickers? A new font for a word processor? A new monthly coloring book or daily crossword? A new soft keyboard? A new game pack? The process is the same. For every single developer. Period. It's not about making it consumer friendly. The consumer shouldn't even notice it.

Re: Turning Off IPhone Critical to Pilots Citing Interference

That cellular antennas transmit radio waves that could potentially interfere with avionics IS proven. No one can prove that it absolutely won't. But put a sign up for 200 people to put their devices in airplane mode and maybe 50 of them will comply. The problem is that people are idiotic and don't want to be bothered with turning off their phone, for any reason, other than to try and get away with it and then say "See, my phone was on and we didn't crash". What is really so important that you HAVE to have your phone on at all when taking off? You're unable to wait 15 minutes? And once you get to cruising altitude, your cellular antenna is using so much battery to try and receive an non-existant cell signal, your batter is sucked dry when you land. Sooo, Why change the regulation? What purpose does it really serve?

Re: iPhone 5S Photos: Parts Photos Show Internal Overhaul (Exclusive) | BGR

Actually, the argument for a larger screen was manufactured. Is it generalizing, yes. Tyrannical? you need to look up the word, me thinks.

If I brought an FAA approved, aviation GPS on board a passenger plane, I would not be allowed to use it, without permission from the pilot. Period.

It could be a mental issue if someone repeatedly tries to use their kindle on a plane during taxi/takeoff, after being told so many times over to turn it off (not complying), which may explain your need to feel superior to others.

Re: Turning Off IPhone Critical to Pilots Citing Interference

I have no idea what you are now refering to. I didn't blame anyone or anything for the problem. I know full well what the problem is. I also think you forgot your original point, which was: "It's not the phone being on that's causing interference, but the actual leaving the Cell Radio on that is causing the interference. If you turn off the Cell Radio (that communicates with Cell Towers [aka those towers that give your cellphone reception]), then it would never interfere."
I agree with what is causing the interference. I also agree with most of what you said. You then go on to call the FA's ignorant and tyranical because you had to turn off your Kindle. THAT is MY point, but you don't care to read other's comments, just claim others don't read yours if they disagree with you. Which is fine.

Re: Turning Off IPhone Critical to Pilots Citing Interference

1) Ignorance? You assume too much. I fly weekly for work. NEVER, has a flight attendant asked if my device in the seat pocket, coat pocket, pants pocket, etc was turned off. If you are USING it, yes, they ask you to turn it off. That's it. They don't search every passenger to make sure every device that went through the cabin door is accounted for and turned off.

2) Of course you can turn it off. I didn't say you couldn't. That YOU don't turn it on means NOTHING to the flight attendant. How do they know the cell antenna is turned off, or that it has been turned off for almost two years (not that quantifying it matters). Just turn it off. What's the big deal?

But the original point of your post infers that Only devices with cellular antennas turned on need to have the cellular antenna disabled is ignorant. My point...how is the FA supposed to know?

I don't disagree with your next two points, but I take exception to commenting that the tyranical flight attendants are too ignorant to know which devices are safe and which ones are not. It's not their job to know. It's their job to enforece the rules. If the person next to me using their phone when the FA walks by has to turn it off, the tablet in the seat pocket should also be turned off, right? But she doesn't see it being used, regarless of it's cellular capabilities, so it's ignored. You claim they should know, using telepathy I can only guess, which devices need to have their cellular antennas diabled. I claim just turn it off. I'm not sure why you are getting so bent out of shape when you are the one who insulted an entire workforce.

Re: Turning Off IPhone Critical to Pilots Citing Interference

"Just turn off the devices when the flight attendant says so. I won't because it it's a bother to me to turn it off and on, and I don't want to, you can't make me. That you have been lucky or not, or if it's really an issue or not, it doesn't matter. It's a federal regulation, not a "nice to have". You're also the same person who does 60mph in a 40 unless there is an officer there, because you are a good enough driver.
You are an arrogant person, who think rules are for everyone else.

Re: Turning Off IPhone Critical to Pilots Citing Interference

"All in all, it's alot of ignorance and tyranny from both passenger and crew that still causes all these problems."
You have no idea what you are talking about. If every FA had to inspect every person's device to make sure 1) It's not a cellular device and 2) if it was that it was in aiplane mode no flight would ever depart on time. It's not ignorance. It's that the general public doesn't care. People seem to think they HAVE to have their phone on and not in airplane mode in order to play those last few rounds of Candy Crush, and you don't. Or they think it's a bother, and an inconvenience. THAT is the problem.
And BTW, Many models of Kindles DO have cellular signals. They also do require power, the fact that they draw very little power while displaying a single page, there is still plenty going on that the battery is required and the device turned on.

Since it's so easy for you, I think YOU should come up with a process for every airliner and their limited staff to check every single device that every single passanger brings on a plane and make a determination on if it can stay on or not. This would also have to include devices in the seat pocket, carry-on's and even checked bags.

Re: Apple Fixes ‘Potentially Life-Threatening’ Flaw in Maps

And 4G was available in so many markets a year and a half ago. I feel they need to worry about their own products. They can compare features that are not existent or sub-par on "other devices". But to name competing products, (especially one already flying off the shelves) is sometimes foolish when you have not sold a single one of them yet.
Basic marketing. His mention of the word iPad just gives more juice to Apple...especially if it turns out that it doesn't match up to the iPad.

Re: Ce-Oh no he didn't!: LG's Ma promises Optimus tablet 'will be better than the iPad'

Making broad generalizations about people based solely on the type of phone they use (when the article is about tablets) shows your an ignorant smartass troll

Re: Ce-Oh no he didn't!: LG's Ma promises Optimus tablet 'will be better than the iPad'

I see your point, and it's valid, but if you think about it, if want to do anything, on any device (even a desktop), you typically need an App of some sort. Windows can't open or edit a .doc without MSWord (or similar app) installed. Wordpress needs a browser (or other app locally) and can't see using their default web site on any handheld device, let alone an iPad/iPhone.
I think the issue with Google Docs is the rift between them and Apple, which has been discussed here on other topics to death, but yes, it would be nice.

And no, no hard feelings. Just had to make a point, which I know is all you were doing.

Re: Ce-Oh no he didn't!: LG's Ma promises Optimus tablet 'will be better than the iPad'

DocsToGo allows you to view, edit and save al kinds of formats. The docs can be local, MobileMe, Google Docs, Dropbox, among others. I personally like Dropbox, as it also syncs with my computer at home automatically when it is saved there.
There are other tools/apps besides DocumentsToGo, but I prefer this one. You may want something else, or none of them. It's not hard to use google to search for editing documents on an iPad.
