Thank you for all your comments and support. I really appreciate it. This was an incredibly hard experience, but it was well worth it. Thanks again. Hopefully the rest of my posts will be far more lighthearted.

I know what you mean. This is honestly probably the most I will say about the experience, and I don't even think I do it justice (nor could I ever). I felt ill the rest of the day as well. I still feel sick even when just thinking about it.

My job is not to speculate, however, it is to report and that's what I've done. I was unable to find anyone that was willing to talk to me about having prejudices against Muslim immigrants in the Netherlands. I did include Geert Wilders and his party in this article as a way to balance the article. I'm sorry if you don't see that as enough.

Just to set the record straight, Mümine Çolak does know Dutch fluently. She learned it as an important part of her immigration. On the other hand, her husband never bothered to learn the language and therefore her son places no importance on it. Her daughter does know Dutch.
