You make a physical fort using the two raiders and the Defiler, with small gaps just narrow enough for models standing behind to fire through. The occupants get inside the fort to lend support fire and are available for countercharge.

The daemons and termys either support the firebase, or go deep into the enemy deployment zone to raid abandoned objectives as the assault army moved forward.

I've been very impressed with the survivability of the Land Raiders in 5th, and the assault defiler is a steal at 150 pts. The major summoned demon is also a beast for his cost.

Granted its a much harder slog, but very possbile.

Re: ARMYLIST: 5th Ed. In an army like this, the whole key is battlefield presentation. In many games I just deploy the termys and walk them up. Its very tough for many players to prioritize between both LRs, the Defiler, and the Termys all coming at them at once.

Your summary of the use of small deamon packs is spot on. They are popcorn and I expend them ruthlessly as needed to both distract enemies, or buy time for the more dangerous elements to move up. A squad or two might survive in an objective game if I need to deploy some behind the advancing army to secure rear objectives.

@Legion 3000, You are correct, this is not a super hardcore tourney army, but my take on a fun fluffy Deathguard build out. It absolutely has vulnerabilities versus extreme builds (Armored company, elite assault, super gunline), but what all-rounder army doesn't.

The army however, is super fun to play, and for me, that's what its all about.

Re: Happy Labor Day!

Nice first models I salute you!

Re: Happy Labor Day!

According to that White Dwarf article, a white helmet and right arm can also be used to indicate aspirants to the Apothacarium.

Just some cool tidbits to customize your army.

Re: Flesh Tearers Logo Sheet

I'll probably do another Blood Angel successor chapter, then branch out to other stuff soon to coincide with mkerr's upcoming Army of Death mini-dex.
