Why go on about which part? You are going to have to be more specific; there's like 4,000 words and 70+ references in the article.

This isn't a public forum, it's a blog. I can control the language I use in my posts. It's easy to avoid pejoratives. I know it's easy because I don't use them.

It's also pretty easy to keep them out of my comments. First of all, I use a bad word filter to keep the worst words out (words that have no positive connotation). Secondly, if you use hate speech, I let you know it's not cool (or I edit the word with some *s).

A blog is probably the easiest place in the world to follow your principles regarding hate speech. If you don't, then you are most likely lacking in those principles.

No, the intent is irrelevant. It's not acceptible to to use gay as an adjective to describe something that is stupid or bad.

Fantastic news! Disqus Analytics will me measure real engagement on my blog. Finally! It would give me real insight into the rate and quantity of responses -- and provide a stronger gauge of user interest and engagement (certainly better than crude page views). I'd love a change to learn more!

Since I moved to SF and left my armies in Austin, my models are all over the place. I know Bigred, Jwolf, Darkwynn and iamaddj have tons of them.

I didn't know any of them made them all the way to your hamster cage. Which ones are in your house right now??

I don't understand the "proxy personal attacks from BoLS to him" comment. What do you mean?

The only time I post about Stelek on my blog is when he deletes my comments from HIS blog. I'm happy to have these conversations on his turf until he takes away my voice.

I understand that not all of my readers enjoy these articles (but according today's IMs and emails there are many that do), which is why I put the big WARNING at the top of the article.

If you read the article after being warned, then you probably like the drama too.

Most of the people you fight with on the internet would be perfectly nice to you face-to-face.

I have a theory that if you played a game against your biggest internet enemy, you'd walk away with a new friend.

I think it would be great to get all of the internet blowhards (myself included) together once a year to play games. It would do a lot to bring the community together.

Saying you are sorry is one the hardest, but most important things you can do -- at any age. Even when you realize you are wrong, it takes a lot of courage to apologize.

So if Stelek apologized to me, I would gain a lot of respect for him and gratiously accept his apology.

It's awesome hearing your opinion on this -- you are a pretty wise kid. If you were my son, I'd be very proud of you for speaking up.

If you are looking for BoLS, you should go to www.belloflostsouls.net. It's a great blog (owned by a friend of mine), but this isn't it.

You might also notice that WarGamesCon (I run the lists) isn't owned or operated by BoLS. It's owned by Jwolf (also a friend of mine).

I don't have any ownership or say in either event, but I make all of the decisions here. At Chainfist.

I can't imagine why BoLS would be threatened by the NOVA Open. They are a news and opinion site -- there's tons of news and opinion generated by the NOVA.

I can't imagine why WarGamesCon would be threatened by the NOVA Open. Both Jwolf and MVB communicate regularly and are collaborating to make both events better.

There's TONS of room for new events in this space -- and EVERY new event makes the hobby better. You should start one too -- maybe you can call it GuestCon!

Hey, Fuzzbucket - thanks so much for reading and commenting! I knew someone out there read my homebrew articles, so it's nice to finally meet you! :)

Young people can excel at any game. There have been very young people performing at the top levels in super competitive games like Scrabble and Chess.

There are some fantastic teen 40k players, including Tony Grippondo. Tony G. won the Adepticon Youngbloods event in '05 -- he was 12 at the time. Since then he's pulled a 3rd place in the Gladiator in '07 (at age 14) and he's placed in the top 5 in the last couple of years. His team - all young players - performs really well at Adepticon.

Oh and fuzzbucket, you should totally come to Adepticon and participate in the Youngbloods tournament. You might end up being the next Tony Grippondo!

One of my pet peeves is writers that make sweeping statements (often portents of doom!) without any support.

If you think that the hobby is experiencing negative growth, then spend some time and do some research. Put up a good argument and solict feedback. Just screaming "the sky is falling" is lame.
