Where are they then? 7000 posts and a only a mere handful like the band. You have a right to you veiw and if you like the band then rock on, but you don't have the right to tell the thousands of us to move on. We did, cuz we're not tuning in, but freedom of speech is a wonderful thang. And if you want change ya got to speak up. So SPEAK UP Jazz fans, we can make a difference.
PS..at least your post wasn't flame bait like otheres who like the band.

You know what I find very curious?
The board trolls with the hit and run "I just wuuuuuv the band" or "you people just need to get a life and stop throwing temper tantrums because the KKSF made a business decision"
But those posts are almost ALWAYS anonymous.
Now I wonder why that is?
Wonder if the folks at KKSF are getting a wee bit nervous, could it be that they're are hittin' up their friends to feebly try and stop the landslide of negativity with those truly transparent and PATHETIC posts?

Reading your letter again Mr. Erickson I have to say it was whiny, self-serving AND condecending at the same time, and your attempt at trying to play a 'victom' was ridiculous.

Have you read what the people here have posted? Have you SEEN the passion, intelligence, and fierce LOYALTY that these people have?
See, THOSE are the people you excluded and disregarded as not important and now THOSE are the ones NOT listening and if you think that this is the end you are sadly mistaken.
The number of posts grows and it will keep growing...word of mouth, as I posted a few pages back is a big b!tch.
Wonder why you are trying to throw a bone and have smooth jazz play for a paltry two hours on the weekend?
Let me see...could it be that things ain't so rosy with your ratings? Hmmm...could it be that us 'wittle' listeners who know NOTHING about the big bad business world could actually be affecting your station?

Unfortunately for YOU, Mr. Erickson all those "hundreds of thousands" of people already have made their choice. The Bone, Alice, KOIT etc...all those stations play the SAME kind of music and are already established and do it better than your station ever could.
You sh!t on the people that made this station what it is. Are you even FROM the bay area??
If you're not then you just don't get it but you soon will and if you ARE then you clearly suck at your job. We are an eclectic people and smooth jazz is trendy, cutting edge and cultered. Just like all of us in this great bay area who listen to it.
Didn't buy your first letter, still not buying this one. Your market research was a JOKE and no one buys that either.
You lost all these people here as listeners and those are the ones who posted. There are soo many more out there and word of mouth is a b!tch.
Your station is tired and played out and ordinary and will fail, hope you don't get to comfy here.

That was the second mistake you made..thinking that the loyal KKSF listeners were a bunch of idiots. Clearly through the LANDSLIDE of angry posts you have received you know that we are not buying it.
Your BIGGEST mistake was dismissing and disrespecting a whole LEGION of loyal listeners. Uh..hello..? Let me say this real slow so you can understand it.
The loyal listeners who tune into KKSF do so to listen to SMOOTH JAZZ...not tired, played out lite rock that seven different stations carry and all better than your PATHETIC attempt .
All the fabulous hosts were my everyday friends and your management is obviously too stupid to understand LOYALTY.
You are loyal..to the DOLLAR and clearly smoking something because if you think people are going to tune in to this travesty you really ARE high. Not only that, what a bunch of spineless cowards you all are..no response to all of us? Hmmm...is it because you have nothing worthwhile to say?
YOU should be hiding under your desk Mr. Erickson because if corporate has a collective brain left they will releive you of your position because you really don't give a DAMN about the people that made the the old KKSF what it was.
A poster suggested another smooth jazz station in San Mateo 91.1 and that is what I will be listening to.
Miranda, Ramsey...Mr. Koz. I hope you all get some comfort because your loyal listeners are sounding off.

Wow, I couldn't agree with you more. Your post says it all, it go's deeper than a beloved radio station getting taken off the air.
It's really about a whole social decline..the economy..loss of jobs and a feeling of hopelessness when you hear of yet ANOTHER huge company or factory shutting down, going bankrupt etc.
Everything familar is going away and it's scary and disheartening.
So it may JUST be a radio station and in the whole big pictrure of life is a small thing.
But it's the small things that make up our lives.
I think a website is an excellent idea.

I have read so many heartfelt posts that echo my sentiments EXACTLY. I posted yesterday and today. Mr. Erickson unfortunately YOURS is the name at the bottom of that ridiculous letter and still we hear nothing from you and the management. That certainly tells me exactly HOW you value the people that gave you(the station) their loyalty.
Whatever..
People, don't lose faith, we can make a difference and one person's voice STILL can make a difference. Do I equate this to an earthquake as another poster said? No...of course not. But life isin't made up of once in a while catastrophe's.
Life is about the day to day stuff, the stuff that makes up our rich lives. And if a radio station helps us do our work, or helps us deal with the horrible commute we have here in our great bay area, or if it sets the tone for a night of passion with our special someone, than darn it!
THOSE are the little things that make up our lives and they ARE important. So speak up people...our voices DO count..our veiws DO matter and don't let ANYONE tell you differently.

What would YOU know of 103.7 business desicions? And how on EARTH do you know how many people were tuning in?
See...you just don't SOUND like a loyal listener you sound like an employee for the management there.
Clearly there are PLENTY of those who share MY passion and veiwpoint, YOURS in in the vast MINORITY here.
So...with that being said 103.7 will lose every single one of it's smooth jazz listeners..and will lose the bucks as you put it. No emotion there...those ARE the facts. And I will be there to boycott every single advertiser there, no emotion..it's just business. I encourage EVERYONE to do so.
103.7 WAS a smooth jazz station...now they are a poor imitation of the Bone.
Hopefully a savvy businesss person in radio will listen to the outporing of people, you know...the one's that were barely listening to 103.7 and get a smooth jazz station on the air.
Until then you can you can TRY to talk down to posters with a superior attitude, just don't do it to me, because I am not buying it for a SECOND.

Hello Desmond, well for me if I wanted to listen to lite/classic rock I have only to go to KKIQ, or KOIT, or The Bone etc...they all play the same kind of music. What made KKSF unique was that it was smooth jazz...only. That's WHY I tuned in. For that kind of music SOLEY. That's why all the listeners tune in...to hear smooth jazz...not lite rock.
I love ALL music from the hardest rap to flamenco and I have stations that I tune into for that.
103.7 made the choice in a lowdown sneaky manner and yanked the rug out from it's loyal listeners. I think THAT'S what get's me and a lot of others so angry..they blew us off.
The Bay Area is known for it's diversity both culterally and musicaly, so sophisticated and cutting edge. Well, they took a really cool, format and made just like everybody else. If your happy that it's another rock station then good for you, unfortunately you are in the small minority.

Raise your hand if you think oaktree either works for 103.7 or is a friend of someone who works for 103.7??
His or hers posts are posted quickly and all oaktree seems to want to do is run around telling thousands of posters to get over it and move on.
You are totally transparent and all your really doing is ralling people tighter rather than pulling us apart.
If you don't like jazz or think we are so stupid to be upset then please...YOU MOVE ON AND STOP POSTING here since you seem to be so irritated. The overwhelming response from the REAL listeners are what counts.
People we need to let the advertisers know that we will not buy what they hawk on 103.7
