When I grab my phone to take a picture of *her* there is a...almost a flash of "what? you're going to be on your phone? we were playing" disappointment. A flicker. Until she realizes, yet again, I'm merely snapping her pic. to send to her dad :-)

Re: ConAgra Invites 14 Mom Bloggers To LA For Kick-Off

very very cool. My dad was a college professor and was always home in time for a family dinner.
MY HOW THINGS HAVE CHANGED! My husband leaves the house for work at 7a and frequently isnt home until 730 or 8.
I do think that when my daughter is older (shes 4) he will simply leave the office early and work from home after a family dinner---but for now we've just instituted family breakfasts in our early rising domicile.
Ive found I adore these times of connection and laughter and SHARING.

Even at age 4 its amazing the little things I find out about her world with this morning ritual.

Re: How To Keep Your Brain “Fit”

Today is all about number three for me.
Unplugging and MAKING the time for lots of facetoface friend time.
Please to nag me about it and check in with me later :)
we all know how easy it is to keep working and stay at the computer.
today Im totally doing it all in the name of BRAIN health

Miz.

Re: Dude, Where’s My Appetite?

oooooooooooooh come visit me and we can do a TX BBQ tour
Ive always wanted to....

Re: Moments That Matter

I adore this and am working hard to make every day I am here a mindful living one. In fitness and way way beyond. For me the online accountability partners are almost better in that we check in with each other frequently in this busybusy "face time can be difficult to find" world.

I chase after my toddler all day long, literally, but I sometimes forget to realize that this is part of my cardio!

I frequently talk about this with moms. I know when my Tornado of a girl is less...tornado'y I may need to add in more exercise in a more traditional sense. Until then, for me, MORE exercise would simply lead to overtraining.

Re: Exercise: How Do You Get STARTed?

What's a girl to do to get back in training?

you know, Laura, for me it ifs frequently NOTHING.

you say this:

I admit it - I have hit a plateau. I did boot camps, running, power walking, resistance training and one day none of it seemed to work anymore

when that happened to me (and Woman I totally recall that experience and its accompanying WHINING in the kitchen to my husband about "why am I doing any of this again?!") I took weeks off.

I guess you could say I did active rest but it was only in the form of walking my dog.

I healed entirely (body and spirit) and only THEN did I start again.

slowly.

with more rest days woven in every week.

my plateau vanished and my LOVE of working out return as well.

Re: Exercise: How Do You Get STARTed?

Ahhh the days of taking classes :) right now, being a full time mom, I dont make time for group exercise (see? I am taking ownership that its a choice though :)). I LOVE WEIGHT TRAINING and can not sing its praises enough for women.

I lift 5 days a week for short periods of time (20 minutes or so). Because it works for me to lift more frequently I break my body down into smaller parts (chest, back, biceps, triceps, legs/shoulders).

For me cardio has been a lot of chasingthechild recently.
but when it isnt that I love to ride my stationary bike and read trashy magazines :)
anything to make it fun.

Re: Exercise: How Do You Get STARTed?

and for me MANY times it ends up being active play.
dancing in the kitchen with my preschooler.
taking hiphop (for me HILARIOUS) dance classes.

anything where Im laughing so much I barely notice the exertion.

MizFit
