Also Superchroma is crazy-early in development, but I'm going to try and post regular updates in some fashion on my site: http://www.polycat.net (and of course, Gravity Blot will be on http://teamchaos.com when I release it... soonish).

Re: Everything in Path of Exile so far is leading up to this

Is there a planned Mac version for this? :(

Re: buzz-tv | Brotherhood, Episode: Call Letter Blues 1:2-6...

GUYS, HE'S SHOOTING A FUCKING TELEVISION TO TURN IT OFF.

Re: Supernatural #13 - That Truck is Racist

I think that is, by far, the worst episode of the entire series. When I watched the series through a second time, it's actually impressive how thoughtfully the show lays out it's mythos. It's not a LOST/Fringe kind of thing where they just continually raise questions; the show answers everything and it often seems like the first five seasons are remarkably well planned out.

Basically, aside from the pilot, Home is the first episode where the mythos starts to play out. And Jeffrey Dean Morgan is pretty great.

Re: Supernatural #8 - Of Bugs and Men

I disliked that episode.

But the next one, Home (I think), is one of my favorites. And reading these is making me want to watch the show AGAIN.

Re: About

oh

Re: Supernatural #6 - ‘Shapeshifters Ate my Girlfriend’

They still mix a crazy amount of cultural lore/legend throughout the show, but they end up consolidating things a bit; the over-arching mythology is very focused on christian lore, which provides a nice spine for the more random monster-of-the-week episodes.

I'm glad you're digging it, though. As I've said many times, Supernatural became one of my absolute favorite shows. I can't remember when exactly it crossed that line between entertaining and "holy shit I love this", but I don't believe it happened until somewhere after the first season.

Re: Supernatural #5 - “The Ring in 45 minutes”

it gets so good.

SO GOOD.

Re: rand, The X-Files, Episode: Per Manum (8x13) what’s...

i think this show would be infinitely improved if, as of this episode, it became the Skinner & Doggett show

oh my god i'm excited at just the prospect

Re: rand, The X-Files, Episode: Per Manum (8x13) what’s...

likely chance of a scully-focused episode being about babies: 95% (there was one about her being a homewrecker)

Re: rand, Episode: Badlaa (8x10) he travels by...

there is also a chase scene where this guy rolls himself down a sidewalk in pursuit of an eight-year-old boy

Re: rand, You can always tell a Kim Manners episode.

[ie, they're the best]

Re: Starhawk

I AM SOMETIMES NOT A MORNING PERSON.

Re: The Systemic Integrity of Expression

Uncharted is a weird example; I think it fulfills its purpose and goals remarkably, but, yes, it doesn't exactly offer a lot of freedom or anything. I still think it's a decent example of gameplay being very much in-line with the theme of the narrative/game, but I don't think it's necessarily a good example of expressive play.

Re: Balance Source Release

Unity is great, but if what you want to do is engine architecture/programming and building up your own toolset, then Unity isn't really the kind of thing you're probably looking for. I love Unity because it lets me program what I want to (mechanics and game logic) and leave all of the technical stuff to the very capable tool.

Re: Broken

<3

Re: Broken

Are you dudes trying both the W/A/S/D (or directional arrows) and the mouse-controlled (which requires you to hold down LMB to move) movement styles? They're still, mostly, the same physics-managed movement styles, but they are very different interaction types.

If neither of those are proving awesome, it's probably something I can look into.

Re: Inaccuracy and Stakes in Kane & Lynch 2

Yeah, I can totally see that. Neither Kane & Lynch and Kane & Lynch 2 are easy games to recommend, but for those that can put up with unpolished/poorly presented/buggy systems I think they have a lot to offer. They're just a very different kind of third-person shooter that seems like it should be more familiar than it ever actually is.

Re: Stuff That is New

No, nothing like that. I'm reviewing Unity 3.0 for GameDev.net and I'm not sure if I'm going to be getting a full license for that when all is said and done. So, I can't keep 2.x and 3.0 installed at the same time and I don't want to put worked into the 3.0 upgraded project if I can't end up using it long-term. So, it's just kind of a stand-still.

Re: Journalism

Logan didn't even seem to understand the absurdity of what she was saying. She seems, otherwise, like she could be a sharp lady, but like so many others she is so lost in the "game" that she couldn't write a real, meaningful piece even if it was her goal. And her perspective is not an invalid one -- it's perfectly understandable, but it's not respectable and it's not journalism.

I saw that Vanity Fair piece earlier, but as much context as it provided in some ways, it was still more targeted at the completely inane National Review comments that were formed, seemingly, WHILE STILL READING HASTING'S ARTICLE.

But, yeah, it's a fascinating and thoroughly depressing affair to see unfold in a lot of ways. Still, Hastings is blameless and I'm glad he's handling himself as such in interviews.

Re: Caper Corp.’s Got Stories (and Stairs to Connect Them)

I actually do have museums spec'd out, I just forgot to list them in the post.
