"A moody and exceedingly stylish duo from Manchester, Hurts inhabit an enigmatic, cinematic black & white world where they construct melancholic 1980s-inspired electro-pop. They resemble Tears For Fears, as shot by Anton Corbijn.

Theo Hutchcraft and Adam Anderson were in (scruffier) bands Bureau and Daggers before, the latter of which supported Gary Numan. But on a trip to Italy, they discovered "disco-lento" (slow disco), became fixed on adopting a more austere and elegant European aesthetic and Hurts were born."

I dislike the label Pop Noir because it's already the name of a popular club in Southern California (San Diego, specifically) and they don't exactly play "doom pop" style music (I borrowed that term, btw). There is also a band of the same name from my city, Los Angeles (relocated Brits, actually. http://www.myspace.com/popnoir )

I'm quite resourceful at procuring quality tracks. I'm happy that people seem to be digging HURTS, and that their label (it's a safe assumption they have one) has yet to insist that we take it down.
