in my very humble opinion.... you like vintage & shabby...so what better way to show that by leaving the little cupboard just the way it is in all it's shabby splendour, right down to the little dotty knob... the tongue and groove simply must be white!! it is the only right thing to do, not green, no, no.
AND the mismatched-old framed rosey pictures sound just about perfect to me...
give that man a kiss on the cheek.. make him something delicious to eat & drink and just go about what YOU want... (men just don't get it.. mine is forever asking me what the hell I want to do something or other for... they just do not get it..)

I have been blogging nearly 4 years now and over that time have changed names and blogs quite a few times... I blog exactly who I am, what is on my blog is what comes out of my head at that time.. is what I believe at that time and for my words, I have been hounded in the past for what I have written. But it is my journal of my soul.. and I blog so that maybe I will get a comment from someone that will answer the question that I am trying to work out for myself/my soul. Sometimes i even print my posts out to stick into my Soul Journal... I tell you blogging my life & thoughts has helped me in many ways to discover my authentic self.

This is a fantastic post Alison, there is so much more that I could say but if i did, it would turn into a post of itself! Haven't heard of the book either... probably won't get it cause I am too busy working through Women Who run with the Wolves.

there is great wisdom in the phrase : 'living in the moment'... we must ... that is why we are here, why we were born into this era and not back then & there...

I haven't seen or heard of the show.. I would probably puke. And oh how sad to 'get rid of' a baby because it doesn't fit into the era lifestyle. I know people here who live and breath 1950's.. even the poor little mites that they bring into this world are born and raised 1950's..... but I bet mum grabs for the epidural when in labour - hee hee !!!!

I hate televisions.. and if i had my way I wouldn't have one (oh well, yes, I would I guess so that I could watch River cottage, but it would be hidden in a closet in an out of the way room ) . I am married to a man who has the remote welded to his finger and it annoys the hell out of me... he wants one of those huge screen things and I am digging my little capricorn heels in, so far, I am winning.
I remember my nans gorgeous cabinet television and just about choked when I saw the new fandangled ones.. I agree, very space age looking.. have you seen the new CD players lately? gawd. yuck
I am not sure if I would like the round screen on this Alison, I think I would feel like i was in a fish bowl.

by the way Alison, if you want a real laugh, go to ebay australia and search collectables for shabby chic and then you will see what we are offered by ebay sellers as shabby chic... very, very sad.

I will admit that I do like rusty and primitive bits n pieces...like old iron candle sticks but bins likes this? in my garden to grow tomatoes during summer is where you will find them here in my corner of the world.. will be interesting to see how much it sells for.... hmmm maybe I should wander around our local council cleanups that are on at the moment.

do not, repeat, do not google... cause I do that and it is always fatal.. so then I start planning.... until I go to my Dr and get diagnosed and realize how much time I have spent wasting time worrying over something sinister.. so you have an appt with the specialist... good.
although, I did laugh as i pictured you trying to talk with a tongue twice the size as it should be... sounding very much like you had been drinking way too much red. someone once told me to name an affliction like this and it will go away.. not sure if that works but you could always try calling the lump something like Doris or Gladys or even Mabel.

I love this and what a fantastic idea! now, if this shop were here in Woodford, I would be there in a flash. I hope someone in Australia discovers this and does it here... actually, when I visit the UK next year, I just might have to bring an extra bag to take some of this home... can just see myself explaining to Mr Customs..

Alison, haven't been by in ages & ages... gawd, how long is it? Anyhow, have been reading and reading and laughing and crying... still a fantastic place!!
I am grateful for you too... all those years ago, when I discovered Simple Abundance through Brocante! ta!
