(Hey, George.) Always a pleasant surprise to find another fan.

Two things: (a) I don't think this fiasco is good for the league amongst casual fans. As you alluded to, it comes down to a very elementary "millionaires vs. billionaires" thing to them. They already think the season is too long, the play sloppy, the players overpaid, etc. After last season's brilliant postseason and the accompanying momentum, this hurts. On the flip side, I don't think it matters for junkies. Sure I'm pissed the NBA and the player's union didn't get this taken care months ago. Sure I'm mad-as-hell after every meeting breaks down. And sure I'm seething I can't watch basketball next week. But when the season finally starts I'll table that anger, crawl right back to Target Center, find some dealer on the corner, pay him $10 for access to the best drug I know, and find my seat to take in that blissful round orange ball. And (b) how could you not mention my boy Kevin Durant as a prime example of a player growing his brand during the lockout? See you at Target Center, hopefully sooner rather than later. How u.

Re: Behind the new website design

I think it's a jaw-droppingly gorgeous redesign, Tomás. Nice work. It did make me more anxious to see "Greenberg."

Re: http://minneapolismichael.com/post/384016601

Has to be Hardy, right? Then again, if you want to use that metric as a gauge for awesomeness, Lisa Kudrow hosted in 1999.

Besides, Freddy A.'s comedy is much too cerebral for the MTV crowd you run with.

Re: Brandjacking Burger King on Twitter - Lessons Learned @theBKlounge

Caleb - Truly inspired. While I love the work CP+B is doing with BK, it is refreshing to see neither one of them are behind the account. A question, though: Did CP+B or BK contact you in any way to say, "Hey, what the hell are you doing?" or "Keep it up, we love it."? I'd like to think that both are savvy enough to keep to the sideline and observe. I'm especially curious about the Cease and Desist fiasco. Again, bravo.

Re: State of Your State: Minnesota’s Ad Scene - AgencySpy

@Bay - You're missing my point (not like I'm surprised); I'm saying that until you contribute something meaningful to the larger discussion about the industry, in general, and Minneapolis, in particular, you'd be well advised to keep your picayune comments to yourself. If, on the other hand, you are adding to the discussion, I'd love to see your contributions.

@Jaxflax - Just because, in your opinion, there isn't "anything meaningful happening (here)" doesn't mean there shouldn't be a cadre of smart, young, ambitious ladies covering the scene. I'm not suggesting that the city is producing the calibre of work it did in its heyday, but you need not look far (see: the body of this post) to find exciting stuff.

Re: State of Your State: Minnesota’s Ad Scene - AgencySpy

If you'd pay attention and pull your head out of your ass, you would find that the work Erin and Libby - and the other contributors - are doing at Yaybia! is, hands down, the best coverage of the Minneapolis ad scene you'll find on the internets. Additionally, with your head now out of your ass, you'd find (pssst, they're called bio pages) that the ladies know of which they speak as they work at the agencies they cover. Sure, they don't have the institutional knowledge a more seasoned professional may possess, but that also means they don't pull any punches. Where can I find your blog?

Re: New media predictions in 2009: lots of air quotes edition

Good list, dude. I couldn't believe 5,000 pizzas were given away when I saw it posted on a note at Punch. The coupon was pretty widely disseminated, too. I found the glorious little fucker on City Pages.

I'm not sure I agree with the prediction that TV News divisions will just close up shop. They'll get smart, hire some young kids and figure it out.

I'd love to see KSTP go away though, so Jessica Miles can come do a Rocketboom-esque show from my living room.

Re: BPTC

Wow, nice find.
