It makes me want to live in Seattle so I can be part of this fantastic sounding team :-)

Re: How to Ask a Blogger for Help

Loads of good points! I tend toward the nervous, never get around to the point, type of marketing approach so I will reread this next time I feel the need to make a pitch! LOVE seeing all the older projects :-)

Re: Japanese Craft Books vs. US Craft Books: your thoughts?

............................................................................
check out my blog!
http://mimikirchner.com/blog/

Re: Japanese Craft Books vs. US Craft Books: your thoughts?

Maybe I am completely off base, but this is how I picture they are different? - Japanese craft books look like they come from some kind of design group- like the old Readers Digest series of craft books from the '70's. There are project designers, pattern makers, illustrators, writers, etc. American craft books seem to be more of a one person show. The author comes up with the projects, writes the directions, makes the patterns... The Japanese books often have a magazine feel. I think that it would be difficult for one person to have all the skills to put together something that looks like that Japanese model.

I grew up sewing from commercial patterns and those 70's craft books. I only ever read text as a last resort. I find a lot of text is overwhelming- I just glaze over. I want to be able to figure out a project from the pictures. When I started making patterns last year, I asked people what format they liked best. Every single person who replied told me that they liked lots of pictures and that they learned best visually. And everyone seemed to feel a bit guilty about that! I love the illustrated format.

Re: A little snapshot from the Craft Social…

I have never seen or participated in anything like it before so have nothing to base my suggestions on- just blowing off thoughts I guess. I am very excited to see such a cool thing happening and whatever way it works itself out, I'll be there :-)

Re: A little snapshot from the Craft Social…

Oh, and I've been thinking it would have been a great way to discus the Japanese vs US craft book question!

Re: A little snapshot from the Craft Social…

I have to admit that I found it overwhelming. If I tried to jump in, I got so far behind on the tweets and whatever I thought I might be commenting on was long gone. Because of the way my brain works, I would have preferred some structure- like a question and then 10 minutes of answers, next question...
The BIG plus- Lots of people started following me afterward- and I followed back, so it was a great way to find new and interesting people!

Re: :: Shop With Evie...

Those little bearded guys are fantastic!

Re: CraftyPod #106: Engagement Marketing for Your Crafty Business

So fantastic! Like a long podcast that I'd pay for? As I read your book description, I was thinking about how interesting this sounded and also how I have a whole stack of books that I have never opened... but, I listen to podcasts and audio books all the time. And, you are the queen of the podcast... what do you think? Just one more project to add to your list! :-)

Re: Will we see you on Sunday?

I would so love to go to this- wish I was closer!

Re: CraftyPod #100: In Which We Celebrate!

Happy 100!
