Funny - in everyone's rush to blame Obama or sarcastically throw out Bush's name as if Obama were blaming him -- haven't ACTUALLY mentioned the parallel to NJ Gov Chris Christie, who, you know, actually was cited in a hit-and-run against a motorcyclist when he was driving his SUV the wrong way down a one way street.

I'm hugely progressive - and O has disappointed me on several occasions (as I'm pretty sure anyone would have, Dean and Gore included) but he's what we have.

Frankly, in the face of uber-enemies like Steve King, any inter-party in-fighting only serves to enable the enemies, serves to breakup unions, serves to destroy equal rights, serves to gut environmental and consumer protections.

Why stop there? Why not not just chop the whole city off by freeways that crisscross every neighborhood in every direction? Let's New Jersey-ize this place. We can get rid of neighborhoods and just refer to ourselves as freeway exits.

Politics. That's exactly what happened in Los Angeles. LA had one of the best street cars systems in the world. By the mid-40s the city was paid by the major car manufacturers to disband the street car system. True story.

I wonder if the car manufacturers had any pull in Detroit?
