Can someone actually explain how throwing more money at a problem will correct it? In the 1990's DPS took out 1 billion in bonds, and what did we get for it? No one appears to have the courage (or possibly the intelligence) to answer these fundemental questions. Until you have the majority of Detroiters actually caring for their offspring this will be more money down a rathole! If more people would ignore the Clownica Conyers self serving arrogant what's in it for me approach to life then maybe it would change!

You appear to ignore the central point I attempted to illustrate, that while I sympathize with his family's loss, the beer swilling troglodytes who can cite chapter and verse NBA stats, are today's example of the ignorant sheeple whose allowed Lenin, Hitler and Mussolini to gain control of their respective nations, and the world is a much better place because of that, correct?
My writing is a attempt to encourage people to try and become more involved in solving the world's problems, not to just entertain themselves by swilling beer, eating nachos and helping pay men to play a children's game. But I fully realize that most of them are in heaven with their ignorance, and forever will stay that way. So the human race will continue to fumble along with little hope for a better future. None are so blind as though who will not see!

Maybe some one can answer the question, how does one contract "alcoholism"? I'm not trying to be facetious, but I believe this is another example of the medical field creating a disease. My belief is based on the APA classifying homosexuality as a mental disorder under is was changed, cured whatever in the early 70's. (To the brain addled, I'm not trying to EQUATE the two, only as an example how things are changed through political machinations!)
It seems to me that alcoholism is a predisposition and as such can be controlled, such is a behavior. Those to call it a "disease" are mitigating bonafied medical conditions in order to give bottom feeders and activist judges another lame excuse to abrogate a defendants responsibility for their actions.
Maybe it's verbal semantics, but unlike liberals who adopt a moral relativist stance, I believe we should work with hard indisputable truths. At least is matters of justice. You know, the concept nonexistant in the court system!

THANK YOU! I TRULY appreciate that explanation, cogent and realistic in all aspects. I further appreciate your point of individual responsibility. I was not familiar with the chemical changes, it certainly gives me a clearer picture.
I only differ about Dingle receiving punishment. I have heard from reliable people and witnessed two outstate cases where the defendant's bottom feeder did the lie obfuscate, my client couldn't help themself (it's a disease) and the gutless judge felt "sorry" for the criminal (to h3ll with the victim) and gave a slap on the wrist. But maybe the black robed bottom feeder in this case is up for reelection so, possibly, justice might actually enter the calculation. I won't hold my breath! But again many thanks.

I do not believe it insensitive to ask for clarification about the who, what, WHERE, how and why of any given story. I truly feel for the family of the victim. That was a tragedy! While simple grammatical errors can be overlooked, the butchery of the language is clear evidence of an educational deficiency and brings into question the intellectual level of the writer. This also gives credence to the assumption the writer has no philosophical base from which to expound on a given subject. By extension their opinions have little or no value! An unintentional result of our constitutionally limited republic, free speech and what notl!

I have yet to receive an answer to the basic question, what is a "Big Three" vehicle? Is it a vehicle made in America with parts from many nations? Is it an American branded vehicle assembled in Canada or Mexico? Is it a vehicle made by a foreign manufacturer, then branded with an American newplate? Is it a foreign made vehicle made by a company owned by one of the "Big Three"? It's appears to be to complicated a question in light of Mayor Fout's draconian idea.
I know that my Honda was designed in California by Americans, built in Ohio by Americans using parts made all over the world ala the "Big Three"! To those who may agrue that the profits go to Japan, did you care that for years Chrysler profits went to Germany, or that profits from SAAB, Jaguar came here?
