That's a killer budget, and it certainly helps if you are a local, but I do know some dedicated souls who have really dug in to a foreign place and achieved a burn rate of less than 500USD. Very cool stuff. No income generation stuff on the blog yet, some more over @ The Lifestyle Business Podcast. I own a company that produces and sells hard goods products. I also provide digital marketing consulting services with the help of an awesome team of employees here in Asia.

Re: [video] Another way to look at the 5 tones of Thai

What a gas! Great domain name, love it! I'm writing to encourage meeting your goal in two weeks! As a side note, and quite selfishly, I am increasingly interested in a "plan" to learn languages in 3 months. I've got a tutor but I'm not sure exactly how to direct her (because I'm sure you know better!). It would be great to see a quick post on how to help direct a tutor to teach you a language in 3 months. In a lot of countries, its really cheap! What kind of plan should I put in place? I don't need to tell you I'd be willing to pay for this information! Anyway, if you have the time, just thought I'd bring it up. I've checked out your basic resources and its still tough for me to piece together what your advice would be for a proven plan. Cheers Benny!

Re: Is it better to travel to villages for language/cultural immersion?

Thanks, I'm going to use your approach and see what I can do. 3 months is a daunting and exciting prospect at the same time.

Re: I’m Sick of Being a Traveler, I’m taking on Luxury Lifestyle Overhead

Hey, drop by anytime. Obviously, this is irrelevant if you have a visa of some sort, but in my opinion buying an Asia Air ticket is much easier than obtaining a visa.

Re: I’m Sick of Being a Traveler, I’m taking on Luxury Lifestyle Overhead

True true, my real hope here is to take it to the next level... as our company grows in scale we can afford to keep offices and 'hubs' around the world rather than hotel hoping and packing up my backpack with everything anytime I want to move. As my business partner commonly says about all kinds of issues, "this is a revenue issue."

I'm going through a mindset change from "Office escapist" to "global business grower" or someting.
