Jim Jordan has as much business being ON the Judiciary Committee -- much less Chairing it -- as he would running a nuclear reactor. He's a goddam WRESTLING COACH with ZERO knowledge of the law. Get him OUT and SHUT him UP !!!!

Re: “Downsized!” – Achieving a Healthy Weight (Exclusive Chapter 1 Preview)

Sue: Will you be able to live the rest of your life on two protein shakes and a sensible meal ? Is that a practical lifestyle for you over the long haul? Is it one you'll enjoy?

Let's try and find a healthy menu of foods you really like, prepared in ways you can enjoy for the rest of your life. Let's identify what you CAN order in restaurants. We want a sustainable, healthy lifestyle for Sue -- and the key word is "sustainable!"

I eat MORE often than most people, not less. It speeds your metabolism, and helps regulate your insulin levels.

I think you'll like this book, Sue. I bet we've had many similar experiences.
I've also had problems balancing nutrition and physical activity with prescription medicines. Sometimes, you feel like your body is a chemistry set -- and I suppose it is !
It's very difficult to find a good balance sometimes, and I wish you well as you navigate that part of your journey.

Mike Collins

Re: Courage lacking in U.S. foreign policy leadership

I've been privileged to help promote Col. Lee Ellis' new book, "Leading With Honor," and am surprised by some of the comments here. We should be in awe of the sacrifices of men who spent thousands of days cramped together in tiny cells, subject to regular beatings, torture and mental cruelty. Anybody who'd suggest that any of these brave American heroes should go "back to prison in Vietnam" should apologize. What an awful thing to say!
PS: And unlike the anonymous haters, I'll use my own name.

Re: WaPo Internal Memo: Mary Ann Akers Out - FishbowlDC

I've known Mary Ann since she was at Roll Call. She's one of the nicest, fairest, most engaging reporters in Washington. Wish you all good things, Mary Ann -- and I'm sure a lot of people will benefit from Patrick Kennedy's book.

Re: Stan Brock's healthcare solution

The respective States' refusal to allow out-of-state licensed physicians to practice -- even on a voluntary basis -- is indefensible. We are dealing with the equivalent of State-imposed guilds reminiscent of the Middle Ages. No wonder costs are so high. This provincial attitude prohibits not just voluntary medicine but tele-medicine as well. It's time for the federal government to step in and intervene with pre-emptive legislation allowing licensure in one state to be recognized elsewhere. A kidney is a kidney, whether in New York or Nebraska.
