I had this bookmarked for a while and finally read it in the small hours of the first day of the year when I couldn't sleep. This turned out to be a very apropos time to enjoy it. I love the nostalgic and melancholy familiarity his stories / situations hold for me. I enjoy the grander tale the stories hint at. Also, I just discovered the word saudade.

I was a fan when I was 14-16 and am nostalgic for them but this article has been effective in making me regret my affinity. It all rings true and makes me feel more than a little uncomfortable. I thought I might listen to a couple of their tracks that I still like for sentimental reasons (Carousel, Josie, Dammit) but am glad to find myself listening to Pretzel Logic.

Nike's ad is so much better and actually serves as an analogy (where this beats ad is the "perfects" and Nike ads are the originals).

I like it, I think it works as it makes me excited to use the iPhone (but I love the iPhone, Apple and The Pixies). That '88 Gigantic video is rad, though.
