Humans have practiced some form of costumed roleplay since at least 30,000 BC. Paleolithic shamans dressed up nature spirits, the pop culture characters of their time. Cleopatra dressed up as Venus to charm Mark Antony.

Costumed roleplay becomes less "weird" when you realize how far back it goes.

The system needs work. Giving publishers a 75% cut of mod sales revenue incentivises them to release buggy games, because they'd make more money by just letting modders fix the bugs.
