Even if apologists try to defend the blatant yellowface and cultural appropriation, there is no denying the terrible lapse of common sense The Lantern Theatre has shown.

If you open up a genre to new audiences by taking a risk and introducing a new element, bravo, but the least you can do is a little research. You're inviting people who are interested in feudal Japan to join you - You should probably expect some of them to know something about it. You should therefore probably do your best to do right by that audience.

There are mistakes (you messed up on one prop? meh.) and there are cringe-inducing critical errors (long line of wrongs that indicate little care for the subject, yellowface, and appropriation); and the fact that so many critical errors went unnoticed and unchecked show a massive amount of disrespect for the culture, people, and story they aim to portray.

If that isn't ultimate failure by the theatre, I don't know what is.

@id10tango ...worst timing ever, I had an old systemwide from last year just expire like a week or two ago and no one to give it to. And, I won't be getting any for 2011 this time - UA recently changed their policy to PremExec at 50k, 2 upgrades at 75k, and add'l ones every +15k after I think :(

Neither Ben nor I were really awake/alive for this leg (PHL-LGA), so I can't say for sure, but I think it was Piedmont for ours, a bunch of Commutairs on the board (I think I remember Buffalo?), and that one Mesaba next to us.

Also, god that's ridiculously confusing. But neat that you're flying Star Alliance flights. Do airline alliances matter to pilots much, though...?

Though, I thought Mesaba operates more for Delta than US Air/United? There was a CO Express parked next to us at LGA that was operated by Mesaba but I'm pretty sure that was a Saab...

I'm currently a middler/junior (3rd/4th) year student at Northeastern - Who do you know here??

I didn't attend Harker; I attended an East Coast predecessor called The Pingry School instead, and met Ben E. at NU. We've been dating for a few years now. I'm guessing he linked me to your blog and that's how this internet connection happened :)

I agree with you on the shirts and the queues. And perhaps, yes, a strong female presence in Microsoft would shake things up somehow. Who knows, they may already have her - We may just never hear of her since Ballmer is pretty much the only one who makes the blogs n 'zines spin.

OH MY GOD I PLAYED THAT DREAMCAST JR GAME WITH MY COUSINS WHEN I WAS LITTLE!!! It was really hard and frustrating at times, but I /loved/ it.
