No. My point was he went from it playing pro ball, as a much lessor known prospect, to a top 10 prospect in all of baseball. It's a fair assumption to deduce had he went to Elsinore, his destruction would have remained on a more similar level. Instead the Padres wanted him to experience a playoff run. Context is important. He absolutely should belong in the discussion. Making a non-prospect jump to a elite prospect in a year+ is incredible.

No it isn't. He Was destroying the league for Tincaps, and was due for a warranted promotion. Because San Antonio was in the playoff race, he skipped Lake Elsinore. He will likely start next season in LE, however, if he shows he belongs (and he's more than holding his own), there's no reason to hinder his advancements. Also, he's probably made the biggest leap from a prospect standpoint. And his tools are just as loud.

How can you leave off Tatis? He's a full year you get than Acuna putting up comparable numbers at a premium poaition -- making a gigantic leap. 18 in AA.

He would be an easy defensive upgrade over any internal options. He could fit on the roster well, as the Padres are emphasizing defense. And he's regarded as a superior defender. Ameristar isn't at SS. Rosales is a FA they could bring back but is below avg now at SS. And Rondon is gifted but makes many mistakes as Vincej is ready now. Rondon isn't. Sardinas has the tools but has also also underwhelmed defensively.

Zach Vincej to the Padres in the rule 5 makes a lot of sense to me. As their hole at SS has been an issue forever. Plus defense will play regardless and he's hitting. Wouldn't be hard to pair him with Sardinas and bounce him around the infield for the entire year.

You mean when he turned down awful propositions at the deadline and got more in the off season? More than he traded Kimbrel for? Um....

Who's to say they don't know what direction they're going in? Is the off season over? No. Are they receiving quality return offers? The market is also weak. Limiting players he could add. And usually a team is commended for keeping players. Now all of a sudden they're commended for not meeting media story lines.

Tyson Ross would make sense also. Flyball/ratio, K ratio, and he's only touching the surface of his ceiling and the cubs want Ross.

He was vastly improved this last month (may) than april. He hasnt played much in June at all. The ups and downs with limited abs are dramatic. A few hits here it jumps quickly. A few awful 0-fors, same in the other direction.

The reason he's being demoted is not because he's struggling. It's because he needs everyday abs and they like spangenberg. Nothing you've said has nagated from the premise. At all. I was referring to when he was playing. Which was last month. I'm it's entirety he was vastly improved. Had he been sent down in April, or early may it would be because of struggles. This is simply getting the better player now more abs on he MLB level, while they add Myers back tomorrow. Withanks the club today. While getting Gyorkout everyday abs.

Yes. I thought you were talking about June in regards to ks. I missed it. But the smaller sample you've listed even with the end of May is also factoring (again) games where he's not getting regarding abs. Which was my main point. As of late I was referencing in may as a whole. And that's not unfair. Considering how well improved he was. As of late when Gyorko has been starting and getting 5 abs he's improved.

Obviously I am referencing games in which he has not been a pinch hitter. Seriously? As of late, since he had any regular abs'so he's shown vast improvement. If you'd like to cherry pick 6 at bats go ahead. That isn't indicative as an entire month. Where again he was one of the best players in the statistic you cited. Lol.

As of late, you know.. actually starting and getting quasi regular abs.

Funny you mentioned his wRC+. As in may it was top 10 in MLB as someone pointed out to me earlier today.

Umm.. no. No he didn't he actually didn't start a game the 1st series of the year in LA. And I believe 4-5 starts in the 1st two weeks. You couldn't be more off base.

Not arguing he shouldn't be sent down. Only that it's hard to know what he would have done because he's been hardly playing from the beginning. Check out how many games he didn't start in the 1st two weeks.

He might not be struggling if he wasn't on the bench. From the beginning of the year he's been sharing time with Solarte and Spangenberg.

Also, he's been much better as of late. So, I'm not sure the struggling narrative applies.

Don't see SP parting with OD. He's been good for them and Kennedy is on the way to the DL. Padres like Maurer a lot too. Hard to imagine them flipping him. Then again, Preller.

Backup catcher. It's possible to get another middle INF option packaging a prospect with a reliever too, or one of their outfielders. Maybin, Venable, possibly Quentin to an AL team. Maybe even Medica who's owning in spring. Point being, the Padres have other pieces that could use to package with one of the aforementioned relief pitchers.
