Just to give you a small update, someone has been googling my email and found Cass's blog, and it was also indicated on overmck that they have my IP. You guys be careful as you're surfing the web. Think about getting a program to mask your IP as you surf. Could be well worth your buck. :) And also, an anonymous email isn't a bad idea.

I shared the other day that I got hung up in the first 6 verses for about three days. The reason is because God is wrecking me about the Gospel being the center of my existence, in so many different ways. That's actually the reason this Bible study is going in the direction that it is...I am aching to have a better understanding of justification, and not just in a mental way, but in a life-shattering kind of a way. Justification is the reason we will stand holy before God. Ahhhh it is so nice to know that is real! Its a privilege, is it not?

Anyway, my comment will focus on the first six verses and why they impacted me so much.

In verse 1, Paul introduces himself as a servant (or bond-servant, as Deanna loves!) of Christ - set apart. Set apart for what? The gospel of Jesus Christ. Then, on down in verse 5, he says through Him and for His name's sake, we received grace and apostleship. Through Him. For His name's sake. Grace (not apostleship for us, necessarily) was poured out on us through Christ for the sake of His name and glory. Hello!!!! It's about Christ! I received grace for HIS NAME'S SAKE. He's the reason I received grace. AAAAAHHHHHH! How could I have been missing this all this time?

You guys, seriously...things have come into such greater focus for me since my perspective has shifted in this area, and I am so excited to be walking with you through it, because its just something I want to share, so much!

Okay, back on track.

Why did we receive that grace? Look at the rest of verse 5.

To call people to the obedience that comes from faith.

We received that grace to bring others to our Lord. So they can receive the same grace, for His name's sake. He is glorified by transformed lives, by making the dead live! He gets the glory!!

And lest we think this was a calling specific to Paul and the other church leaders, he tells us in verse six, it applies directly to us as well.

The gospel. Its all about Christ, and calling people to the obedience that comes from faith. Faith in what? Christ.

What do you guys think?

I too struggle with depression, even now. My father committed suicide when I was little, and I never quite had that daddy connection with my step-dad...I think it really does affect us for years afterward.

I'm so glad he never lets us go. I praise Him for holding onto you, even as you ran.

Please pray for my cousin Lisa to come to know Christ, as she is seeking and was raised Jehovah's Witness.

Also, please pray for my marriage, as we are both stepping out in obedience to God and sharing our faith actively and intentionally, we are coming under spiritual attack and are not handling it as well as we should.

Erica! What a strong testimony to God's faithfulness in calling those that are His! Wow. I love that you wouldn't leave the Bible alone, even though you didn't quite believe it. That is the Holy Spirit!

I have never used a GoGirl but I found a very similar item on EBay a few years ago (like 2003...). I wasn't looking for that specifically, I never would have thought of it, but when I saw it, I had to give it a try. The problem I had was difficulty urinating while standing up. I couldn't do it. I had to sit down and get it going and then stand. Wow that's probably waaay TMI.
