Those programs seemed constrained to the desktop. Rarely do I do anything with my photos there so it was never part of the flow.

Re: Reviewing the Snugg iPad mini Ultra Slim Bluetooth Keyboard Case

You bring up an interesting point though for me the added weight and bulkiness that a back cover would bring outweighs the benefit.

Re: Fall Cycling Around NYC

Merci Thomas

Re: Fall Cycling Around NYC

That's really nice to hear, thanks Josephine!

Re: Designers Should Be Using Both iOS and Android Together Daily

While I do agree that the icon situation is brutal in the lack of consistency over systems, there are things like this that help http://realfavicongenerator...

Re: Automating Location Info

Good question, I think I'll have to write a post about the reasons—stay tuned.

Re: Bing finally has an identity?

You do bring up a good point about Google Drive as both logos are triangular. However I have noticed that I'm also starting to sketch other stuff to kickstart my brain when things start slowing up during the day in front of my computer. Of course any kind of sketching is worth doing but I like the ability to play with a couple different tools without having to worry about it becoming too messy.

Re: Observations with the new iPad & iPhone 4s working together after a week

Lag depends on the app and the API calls so it's hard to gauge at this point

Re: Why I probably won’t use a website’s URL to share a post via email again

You're right, they do sound pretty similar. I do have Instapaper but for some reason it never became the system that I would read things later with. It's subtle but I think it might have to do with the typography. I don't have all the answers to that yet. We are way too early in the game not to explore options though. If you don't like the idea of any app, so be it. Most apps from magazines are essentially pdfs after the magazine has been printed. This one is different in that we're taking digital content and placing it in a better context for a tablet. HTML 5 and Sencha Touch are great options. It just depends on the strategy of the product. In this instance it made sense to publish it the way we did.

Re: The Myth of Great Designs found on the streets of NYC

Ha, it only took five years to find it. Since I've never dj'd before your observations are apt. I embedded a video above after your post that speaks to some of those tactile issues. I've always wondered about taking one of those real instruments (like sj equipment), put it on screen and reimagine the experience because of the capabilities that swiping, tapping and pressure would allow that isn't available with older physical objects.

Re: Why not compress the button?

Michael—your observations are quite helpful about why it sometimes is best not to go for the complete screen. I had been thinking more in terms of consumer products but your use case of an airplane is interesting to note. The thing that I come back to is that as issues arise with a screen based solution compared with physical dials, the ui is easier to update. Once the dial is created physically it gets a lot more difficult to evolve because of it's physical nature. The hybrid versions that use a screen that can be removed like this http://www.engadget.com/201... makes things very interesting.

Re: TEST DRIVE: 2012 Scion iQ

True.
