It will be interesting to see if you ever switch back for free time projects.

Re: Scala: OOP basics

I liked this post because it was compact and clear. It's an interesting time to post it, though, since Java 8 is almost out. Obviously Scala has more features than just the new stuff, but I'm wondering what your thoughts are about the future of Scala considering Java 8 is almost out.

Re: How Bankruptcy Works, Part Two

Here it is! Great job. Excellent discussion on the 341 meeting. It is
terrifying for a lot of people because they think they're going to get
grilled for hours by Visa. (As a side note, there was time not so long ago when Sears would often show up when people had charge cards with the company.) Usually, like in your case, it's a non-event.

I'm curious (since I'm a lawyer). Besides prepping you with questions, did your attorney do anything particularly good before the meeting to calm your nerves or say anything? Did she/he say anything particularly interesting in the meeting?

By the way, just as another little clarification, I totally understand what a relief it is to get a discharge. But an interesting little fact is that you're actually in better hands (most of the time) after you file, but before the discharge because you're being heavily protected by the bankruptcy court!

Anyway, another great post. And much needed. So much bankruptcy stuff out there in the blogosphere is so boring!

Re: How Bankruptcy Works

Ah. Got it. Good to hear! Yes, looking forward to tomorrow's post so get writing.

Re: How Bankruptcy Works

I love it when people post all the details like you did. I just wanted to point out a couple of things that might be different for other people around the country:

(1) Bankruptcy attorneys fees vary quite a bit from city to city. They're usually between $800 to $1,500.
(2) Also, once you start paying, a lot of attorneys will intercept your creditors' calls for you to take a little pressure off. I'm not sure why this one didn't, but it sounds like you liked him so no biggie!

Again, thanks so much for writing up the experience!

Re: Open your mouth and say convertible debenture

Speaking of IRS promulgations, I just wrote a comment on Tax Law Journal on the subject.

Re: Trying out Disqus

Hope you're having a nice Memorial Day Holiday... this is just a test comment

Re: discussion of disqus

I was seeing the same thing you did... I didn't think a whole lot about it until I saw your post.
